I use Meguires Clear Coat scrub. Works for me on a black L.

A clay bar will help considerably! Then, a swirl remover followed by polish...and lastly, WAX!!

I use spray detailer after I wash and dry my L as best I can, and it takes the water spots right off.

I had the same problem - water here in Germany has a MUCH higher content of calcuim and other crap in it than water over there...I spent some time using a clay bar (took the spots and all the other muck off), waxed it a couple of times, and then used the spray detailer to touch it up. No more problems after that...AND, NO SWIRL MARKS!!!
