Newcomer from the great white north
I have been reading the board for a while, it's more interesting than the newspaper or magasines. I'm onto my 2nd Lightning (Silver) after loving my 99 Black for 40k. Ill be in Los Angeles and looking for Retail truck sources as I can't order to Canada easily. Please reply with local addresses. Note; After all the reading, the only person not impressing me is Sal from PSP.

Sal may not impress you through the computer or by his customer service ,I agree completley.You shpuld not have to wait for responses for months at a time and there is no reason why he should hold on to money for this long while he is very slow at producing the performance parts he sells.There is no reason at all for this regardless of excuses about waiting for parts and so on.Buisness should never be handled in this way.BUT !!! You never hear people on here asking why their chip is acting up or screwing up their truck.You do however seea BIG company called SUPERCHIPS screwing up their chips all the time.I have bought 4 different chips from them.2 of them have had continuting problems on the lightning.Look at how many of sals are "bad chips" .I dont remember seeing one complaint about sals parts.He sells the highest quality parts available for the lightning.When you do finally get his parts,People are always satisfied.Let me put it this way.You can buy a superchip (or 2) and keep sending them back to be fixed(like me) .They never seem to get it right.Its been 6 months since i got mine and it is still not right after over $100 in my cost shipping.Or you can wait for Sals and at least rest at ease knowing you are getting a quality product.Next time Ill wait for Sals.

What are all the problems with the superchip? I have read about people haveing detonation probs. with both ( in winter) but I don't recall much else. Ray what is wrong with yours? I have not delt with Sal, but by what I have read its not easy. In my thinking(no dig on Sal, just my programing) if its hard to contact someone before they have your money, how will it be after?

the lightning in stock format is a detuned factory warrenty insurance policy. my smile faded as i left the dealership and felt the first timing snip out of the hole, and actually thought i made a huge mistake with the purchase when i felt the 1-2 shift. if there were no after-tuners a year ago, i probably would have sold it.
The wait is because the filters get sold out. They get sold out because they are in demand. They are in demand because people demand low hassle high quality products. The filters are high quality low hassle products which is why they are sold out...
BTW, it was stated in another post the chips usually ship within a week.

I have had no luck at all with superchips period.First of all I do not look for problems.When your truck wont go over 90mph,there is a problem.When you send that chip back 4 times for the same 90 mph wall, there is a problem.When you finally get a new chip from them and your truck loses all power after the 1-2 shift there is a problem!When they say your rev limiter is set at 6500 and you bump it during shifts,there is a problem and they are lying to you.When you have to shell out over $100 in shipping for many problems there IS a major problem.When you sell your chip to someone and it hits the rev limiter before shifts again after getting it back from superchips AGAIN!!! ,There is a problem.Do I need to go on.Am I really looking for problems?>>>>NO they are there.How many times have you heard about some kind of a problem with superchips?I can name many people on this board who have had problems with the superchips.How many can you all count who have had problems with Sals.....I was fine until I sold my chip to a board member only to find out he is having problems too.I am very pi$$ed at superchips not only for lying to me many times ,But also because the person who I sold it too is now having problems.I will never order another one.Not only do the chips work irratically but Im sick of being lied to may times over!This has nothing to do with Mike Troyers service.This has to do with Superchips never really fixing problems just using the band-aid fix.Every time i call I get a different story.When they work, they work great.I do not think they should lie to people and I dont think they should sell chips until they have the bugs worked out.This is why I think waiting for a QUALITY PRODUCT is painful for a short time but much better in the long run.

I understand your agravation with the rev limiter deal, that is why I asked you a couple of months back if you were satisfied with the RPM file. I have sent mine back also only to have the same thing happen again too. There seems to be another rpm limiter in there that they have not found yet. I'm not sure if Sal has had these problems or not but I don't think he has raised the shift points high enough to hit them either, I could be wrong.
