PCP Products
FWIW,
I too, have both chips, both with the latest revision of code available. The PSP chip, in mode 1 (custom program) is significantly slower than in mode 2. There is a valid reason for this that I won't go into here, if you must know, email me.
In mode 2, performance mode on both chips, the shifts on Sal's chip are much stiffer and feel a whole lot better, IMHO. The track times are about .075 faster w/the PSP chip. This is on back to back untrained runs about 15 minutes apart. This test was performed 3 times, on 3 different days (differing conditions) and the results were consistant.
I have plans to test on the dyno after FFW for more quantative data (probably in about 3 weeks, I hope).
This by no means meant to say that the Superchip is inferior, it is a quality product that it's makers stand behind fully.
It is my opinion that the PSP chip is marginally better and has better shifts.
At this point, the only thing I might suggest to either company would be to lower the shift point from 5500 to about 5250. I do get the distinct impression that it winds a bit too high out of the power band and might run a little quicker if the shift were a bit sooner. I find myself waiting for the shift at the top of each gear, kind of wishing for a 4 or 5 speed manual.
Flames will probably be forthcoming, but these are my observations and opinions, and as such, are worth only what I can do with them at the track. So far, it seems to be working. Now, if I can only find the magic to make some traction....

If anyone needs filter kits my neighbor makes a very nice kit for about 100 dollars plus shipping. He makes them by hand in his shop. I put one on my Lightning and its as nice as the psp kit with the same performance. You dont have to wait 6 weeks either.

Wyldman- How does the quality of the shifts compare between superchips and PSP's? My guess is that if the shifts on Sal's program are harder and quicker, then your e.t.'s are going to be lower. On of the guys on this board posted within the last week running in the 12's with a converter. I have a friend with an LS1 Auto than went from mid 13's down to high 12's with a high stall converter just recently. My concerns are that I don't want a program that shifts real hard in the street. A couple of tuners have told me you really can't get these trucks to shift "real hard" with just a chip, but I'm not so sure. Give us some feedback. BTW, I was thinking about having a flip chip with both programs set up the same, with to only diffence being the transmission settings. Does this make any sense?

Back2Ford,
The shift quality is better w/the PSP chip. They are firm on the street, but certainly not uncomfortable. I really was disappointed with the shifts when I first got the Beast. They felt way too civilized for such a fire breathing monster. Kind of like my TBird, but with much more grunt.
The WOT blasts are stiff, but again, not uncomfortable (my ruptured disks wouldn't like that very much!). In fact, since I installed the 3.73 gear, I get a 1-2 scratch a lot more often (usually on purpose).
I don't think an auto tranny ought to shift like a sledge to the back of the head, but these long slow, slippy shifts can't be good for the fluid or clutches. I certainly haven't lost any E.T. since running the PSP chip.
The only thing I'm really having trouble with is traction, but that's a whole other can of worms.

I`m running Sal,s filter and chip combo...Plus the Transco Interceptor module and Mine shifts almost as hard as the 93 did. So much quicker and crisper than the stock shift. The module sets a convertor code but I need to tweak the pot a bit more. Feels like it is locking up after the shift to forth. Maybe it is just that lock up seems to feel almost like a shift itself and it is still locking up in the proper 1,2,3 lockup 4th sequence. I spoke with the Transco Interceptor manufactuer and he said it should not set this code. The S.T.A.R. scanner gave the number for the code but I forgot the damn thing. Anyway Transco offered to send me another if I return this one. The did ask if the module I have was colored black or purple. Maybe the older module had some flaw. it look like it had been on the shelf a while..dusty. Seems to work well..

I dont leave till Sat. And just to let you know - They have internet connectivity in Europe as well. That means I will still be able to stoke the flames from there.... So you are not going to make it up for the Fastest L extravaganza ?? I cant beleive you are going to abandon your crown that easy.

Twisted99, I noticed in your profile you have a muffler delete option. What exactly is that? I am getting my 00 next month and I plan on putting on a borla exhaust immediately, can I order a 00L without the muffler to save $$?
Chuck, I think you are right about the shift points. When I'm at the track I can feel the power fall off way before shifting. I know if it shifts to soon you would fall below the power band, but I think maybe Ford had it right in the first place.
On the shifts; how many of you (with Sal's chip)have let off the gas from WOT before the shift, and had it shift hard as He!!? Mine does it every time.

Sals PSP Filter is something I hope is worth waiting for. You guys talk about quality and my line of work we also talk about integrity. Needless to say I have been waiting 9 weeks for this "quality" filter. Had 2 Emails from Sal stating it was coming 2 weeks ago, then an update thet I would definetly have it this week. Well, if it doesn't come tomorrow I reckon I can expect it Christmas. Not trying to start a contest here or with Sal, but the "quality product" is not here as advertised.
Had to get this off my chest and no it was not a credit card order, rather a money order to insure Sal got paid and did not have to wait.
Send the bombs this way guys... I am sure I just hit Sals blck list.

I have always been under the impression that if you want it done right you have to take your time a do it with 150%, and not to find the cheapest way or to cut coners to get it done faster or other wise its crap. So if it takes him longer hey I would wait, hes work is top notch and very impressive, not trying to affend anyone. I would wait for Sal`s its worth every bit.
