"chirping" noise when I turn on my heat... HELP

Hey guys...
I have an all stock 03' Lighting.

Does anyone know what is causing the annoying chirping sound that occurs when I turn my heat on. Here are some details:

• Not that loud from inside, but its there and its annoying!
• I think it only starts once the truck is warmed up (I think)
• Chirps for about 30 sec. then nothing for about a minute, and so on...
• Happens all the time when heat is on. idol or accelerating - does not matter.

Any advise on what it might be and how to fix it would be great. I've alrady looked through the forums history to see if anyone else has had this problem but did not see anything.

Thanks a lot - cheers

Sounds like you got a bird in your air vents trying to keep warm.

I was gonna say the same thing

Hey Red
If the Chirp speeds up and slows down with the differant fan speeds,
then you know it's fan related. For instance my Mitsu-whateverthehellitis
has something caught in it's fan and I hear it 24/7, but in my case you can clearly tell it's a leave or twig, no chirping (but still quite annoying believe me)

In the past when I've have a squeaking noise (chirping), it was the fan itself. Usually the basket gets bent (or warped) and it's hitting somewhere, or maybe it just needs a little lube, unfortunately either way to fix it would mean getting to the fan, and my guess would be thats NOT an easy task in a new vehicle.

Strangely enough I just had it happen in my house, I have no chimney so instead I use whats known as a Field Power Venter, It's simple a heat fan that blows the boiler flu out the side of my house, it's pretty much the same heater fan you'll find in a car The SOB was squeaking and squealing like Gator after I whoop his *** on the 1320 I decided to install a whole new Power Venter (which includes a new Motor) but I saved the old motor for the hell of it. Yesterday I was cleaning the boiler room and happen to take it in my hand and spin the cage, it's noisey as chit, and in my case I could clearly see the cage was warped and hitting the duct work it's attached too. Even stanger than that one of my window AC's does the exact same thing, fan hits the case. Thats where I'd put my money on the source of the problem.....

Rob, thanks for your thoughts ... I guess squeaking works as a discriptor as well - probably better than "chirping" - unless I really do have a bird hanging out in there!!

thanks again, I'll look into the fan...
