Exclamation 2001 Lightning Info !!!

Boy, How one day can really change your plans.I just got back from my dealer.I had the oil changed in my 98 ranger. He informed me that there are going to be NO silver or white for 2001.There is ONLY going to be red and black. From what he said,There is really not going to be yellow as many of us thought. They are also getting rid of white.Silver was basically just a one year production. Also Lightnings are going to be all done in (at the latest 2002).He was told there is probally not going to be many 2002s.Ford is now fading them out.as for 2001 are going to be low.2002 are really going to be low.So he said he is getting one white for this year.Guess who is the new owner...ME!!! Now I kick myself for selling my 99!!!!!!!! Mine is in production right now.It will be here in about 3 weeks.Im kinda mad that my buisness plans are now on the back burner.I am really pleased to know that I am going to get another white one.See I only wanted a white one.I certainly dont want a red or black.I feel (and the #s prove) there are just too many of them.I like to be different. He could be wrong but Ill take my chances. He was told by Ford.I think Ford is reliable in what they say.Rumors about yellow are exactly that ,rumors. He also stated that White is even more rare for 2000 than 1999.I believe white will probally be the most collectable in the long run,Also silver. For all you white owners and silver owners,HOLD ON TO THEM!.

Well, what your dealer says notwithstanding, the program is scheduled through the 2005 MY, it doesn't make economic sense to discontinue it before the business plan for 6 model years, the costs involved in developing the trucks was planned for 6 years, with a major upgrade for the 2003 MY.
What I've heard around...
And just a caveat, for the most part, dealers are about the last to know things like this.

I'd love to see them stop making them.. after only 3 or 4 years, but I highly doubt it.

If we only had 4 years, and 4000 per year, 16000 total vehicles would only make ours that much more rare and worth more.

But I have heard from several places it's a 6 year run, so 24000 total, give or take some.

Still keeping the beasty rare!

How long are you really going to keep the truck? I honestly think that these are a special vehicle, but as far as collectibility goes, I don't know. I just don't see that the cars produced today will be collectibles. However, no one can see into the future. The question is, are you really going to keep it that long? If you are, then sure, you could use that excuse to get a white one but regardless, the statement that red or black are way too common is kind of strange, to me at least. I have yet to see another L on the road and I live up here in Ontario where they are built. See a BMW 300 times a day, Honda's; dime a dozen. Regardless of the colours, these trucks are a "special" vehicle. You can't determine how collectible they are until about 20 years down the road.

sorry for the rant....just thinking out loud (however contorted it is). Please take no offense from this.

There were only 877 white made last year. The remainding ones were split around 1500/1600.The people who I run into seem to really like white. To me it seems funny that alot of people like white but the were way more red and black. Here's one. When i sold my 99,i called a dealer in my area to see if he wanted to buy it.I told him it was white. He was like"really, thats the color everybody wants".To me it is so wierd.if everybody wanted white .......DUH>>they would have ordered white. One more thing. This is a fact.On the used 95 lightnings,White always brings more money. Why??? I dont know, they just do.I can buy Lightnings all day long for cheap money. When I find white ones they are always $1000-2000 more..Go figure???My friend just sold his 95 white lightning for $16000!!!My other friend cant even get rid of his for a lousy $9000.Just my experiences.....Did I mention i might be a little one sided.I love white.

Yes,White is the slowest color to sell!
How many of you have run 13.20@105 with a chip and filter?? See white is the fastest.I know some of you have but there is less than more people who have.

I believe very few cars today are collectable.
1. Lightning
2. mid 80s iroc-z
3. 87 Mustang gt-T_TOPS
4. 95 Cobra-R
5. 93 Cobra
There are a few more not many. But I assure you 10 more years and you will all see.

How many of you see any white 454SS trucks. If you do,They are still as much as new.Even the Black 92-93s are still geting $17000 with low miles.
How many of you have seen a real 350ss?? They are out there. They are rare,They are worth money Color/rareness do make them collectable and worth the most money.
Dont shoot me guys for the long opinionized thread
