2000 lightning reliability
I looked at a 2000 today. Very nice truck! I have a black 95 lightning with 96k miles and I have never had the first problem with that truck. On the 95 I have under drive pulleys, K&N conical air filter, Bassani x-pipe, and a chip from Johnson motorsports. I have really enjoyed the truck. My question is, do you guys feel the 2000 will be as reliable as the 95? I can not afford to have a truck in the shop all the time. Also looked at tire prices for the 2000, looks like $1K a pop. The 2000 truck, based on my reading, appears to be more costly to operate, but it performs much better. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Too early to tell about 2000 reliability...
I have had mine since 2/28 and had no problems other than alignment.....
Buy one if you can find one - you wont regret it

The only problem appears to be the intercooler leaking which doesn't appear to have been solved yet, but not all intercoolers are leaking. Some people have had two or three. The tire cost is perplexing. If you switch to sixteen inch rims you have more of a selection. Maybe someone will start offering some new tires for us. Overall I rate this truck a 9.5 out of 10.

I like mine.
Yes it will be a little more costly to operate, but I think it is worth it.
Pick mine up 2/29/2000, I have not had a single problem.

I would think the reliability of these trucks should be as good as how we treat them. They are performance vehicles and usually are driven as such. With that in mind, who's to say. The more they are modified, they more they are likely stressed by harder driving. Problems are often self inflicted even though this is not recognized.

i have a 95 and 99.5.. the 99 gets better gas milage.. they both have their own chacter and good points.. keep the 95 and get the 00 if possible.. with that many miles of the 95 you would be lucky to get that much out of it.. i have only had aliment problems with mine..cam bolts..
