Post Calling Silver2000

Hey Doug,

I hope you and your 2000 Lightning are doing well.

I see that you ran a 13.9 stock, great.

I have seen some post where 2000 Lightning’s seem much faster that 1999.5’s. I would like your honest opinion of what you thought about my L when you where in it, don’t hold back! To back this up there’s a rumor about other 2000 L owners seeing 320rwhp @ 3000rpm where mine is only making 250rwhp @ 3000 rpm.

If this is true about the 2000 L’s then I think I’ll either trade mine in and get a 2000 or drop the entire engine for a blown 500 ci aluminum block. You know me I don’t give a hoot about costs.

Maybe we can hook up again and have a little practical physicists test.

2 BTWs

I heard about early 1999.5 where a little weak, but my build S/N is 3655 of 4000 or something like this.

I have 6000 miles on my L and every time I fill her up I get 11-12 mph but today I was tearing around 445 again 2 hard runs to 140 and just about always 20 over. After 110.5 miles I fill her up (toped it off 4-5 times) 6.8 gallons, which comes out to 16.25 mph, weird. I always top her off multiple times until I can hear the filler gurgle or until gas runs out of the filler.

I guess if I go with the 500 ci I can forget about this (gas) enlightenment. Ha!

You got a lot of wheel spin on Beltline that day. Mine just doesnt spin and fishtail like that. I think you are making plenty of power. I got Sal's chip and filter on order, once its in we can do a side by side that will be relatively even.....

I think they are too close in performance to switch. If I were you I would either go full race aluminum engine or get the high risk combo. He is running deep in the 12's without NOS.

Went to Ennis Fri- Best run was 14.0 - I must be getting wheel spin even though I dont feel it. Posted a MPG of an anonymous L vs L run where you can hear the wheel spin, even after shift. http://communities.msn.com/SVTLightnings

Bring your L to Ennis on the 28th You will get the chance to compare to a least a couple others to see where you stand. Plus I am giving away $100 to the L with the best time of the night. Then I have to hurry home to get sleep and catch plane to Brussels Sat.

Look for other Calling Silver topic for list of folks who are taking thier L's to Dyno before Fri run at Ennis, wouldnt be surprised to see different power curves on diff dyno if you ran yours.
