90 model 454 SS
Here's some info about the '90 454 SS if anyone is interested... i wasn't all that impressed with the stats
But then again, just about everything from that era was a little underpowered... except for the Turbo Regals

"The 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS is a high performance full size pickup that mated the C1500 standard two wheel drive cab with an absolutely killer 454ci 7.4 liter, eight cylinder engine(V-8), the 3 speed automatic transmission and a 3.73 rear axle ratio helped thrust the 454 beast under the hood, the engine(90 Model) produced a maximum of 230hp, 385 foot pounds of torque."
230 hp and that's it? dang, that's terrible for an engine that size. i saw one of these just the other day in desoto/cedar hill. it had out-of-state plates.

Mine is a 93 1of 800 for that year, bought it brand new, currently has the 425 hp GM 454 HO crate motor with edelbrock aluminum heads 100cc heads. Kennebell 2.3 L compressor with whipple intake adapters. PI TC 2400 stall, Hughes 4L80E trans. 11psi boost ,have to run 100 octane min. fuel, because of the high compression ratio. I have turned it up to 15psi, but it 's a little squirlly. I run a bored out TBI, and internal fuel regulator removed ,Idle fuel pressure is 12psi, but under boost it goes to 90 psi fp. stock it ran 15.5 et, with a cam it was 14.9, with the 1.6L compressor whipple at 6 psi it ran 13.5 et. stock motor. I haven't been up to the track with my new set up , but stomped a 12.9e.t camaro from a 60mph roll , and a 12.7 et Grand national from a 50mph roll both must have been 10 car lengths back by the time i let off. The race with the the camaro i had my Yamaha banshee in the back to boot. My 93 gen 1 ran 13.7 e.t with a 150 shot only. My gen 2 will be turned up later this year, currently 11psi KB, 12.7 et at 107mph , so far. Still breaking it in.

In other words, it's not remotely worthy of the moniker. In stock trim, it would barely be capable of achieving bragging rights with any of the normally aspirated "big three" V-8 trucks.

my cousin picked up a '90 454SS a few years ago and when he bought it the truck had less then 80 miles on it. apparently the original owner kept it in a storage unit for 12 years b/c he knew it would be a collector's item one day. i've only seen 1 or 2 on the west coast, they seem to be rare birds now. the HP numbers may not be very impressive (i thought his only had 180hp) but holy crap, those trucks are torquey as hell. he could roast the tires at half throttle from a stand still...we almost spun out once when he mashed the gas at 30mph. the only thing that sucked was it only had 3 gears so cruising on the freeway was a drag. he didn't get to enjoy it long though b/c some a-hole stole the truck out of his driveway about a month after he shipped it to Cali. LAPD found it several weeks later...all that was left was the frame
