Post Lightning vs. Camaro SS ?

I know many of you have raced Camaro SS's before and i just wanted to know how they hang against the almighty lightning... Any stories, kills, or other info is appreciated. Also if anyone knows the approx. 1/4 time for them. Thanks

Lil bro,
I raced a '98 Z-28 last year when my '99
Lightning was bone stock and that guy handed
my *** to me. The Lightning went 13.8's and
the Camaro was running low 13's all night.
The SS version runs identical times as the
regular Z-28 even though they have a higher
horsepower rating. Mid to low 13's is the norm for these cars with the LS 1 motor.
My Lightning sports a chip and PSP filter kit
now and I've run C5 vettes and F-bodies on the street and I'm happy to report that the
truck holds it's own against these cars, they
can't beat this truck with the mods.So good
luck dude and hopefully the driver of that SS
has slow motor skills.
Rob

A friend has a 99 SS with the 6 speeed. We have raced several times. At anything other than a dead stop its all SS. But from a dead dig the truck has won most of the time. The Camaro is much more difficult to launch than the truck. When he does manage a good launch he gets me pretty good. He has a best of 13.28 @ 105mph, but most times runs 13.7+/- a tenth. I'm still stock, and still waiting to try running an automatic LS1.

------------------
99 Lightning black #2022, cd,tow package,bed rug,roll-n-lock, stock
(13.73 @ 99.74)
98 Cobra coupe laser red
best stock et 13.43 @ 103
one run w/ 3.55 gears 13.34 @ 102 no other mods
former Chevy fan still have a few
72 SS454 11.6 @ 116 (slicks open headers)
68 Camaro 12.2 @ 116 (street tires closed exhast)

stock vs stock with 2 average drivers the ss should win by a few lengths. Add a chip/maf and the story changes. I have been fortunate in being the victor of several ls1&lt1 stop light grand prix's as well as a few at the track. If racing on the street and you don't have a chip try to only race from a dead stop. If you do it from a roll he will easily win as most lightning transmissions don't play well without chips.

Good luck.

Hey Guys,
My Wife drives a 96 SS with an engine that Thunder Racing in Baton Rouge La. built. It is a monster and she loves that she can spank me when ever she runs across me in town. Its funny driving around looking for a run while hiding from my wife and her SS. She can run 12.6 with the six speed and tire spin. Two weeks ago she found me at a red light and pulled along side and began reving her engine, blowing her horn, and waving out her window. I wanted to get out and bite her ear for shaming me again.
Maybe I'll give her a run when I find heads and cams. I hope!!

If it's not jigawatt's truck being faster, it's my wife.
