Cool The Most Enjoyable 20 Seconds of This Year!

Picture this:

4 cars lined up to turn right on a 4 lane parkway on a red light.
Car #1 is a Mustang 6 Cyl., Car #2 is a WS6 Firebird, Car#3 is an Impala SS, Truck #1 is me.

Firebird Guy is gunning his motor to get the Mustang to merge and get on his way, Mustang waits for green light.

On green light, Mustang takes far right lane and goes as fast as he can, chirping tires on takeoff. Firebird guy (manual trans) shows lots of white smoke and takes lane 2.
Impala SS guns it and makes a little bit of smoke, BTW, he has a lowered suspension, a few decals and a very loud exhaust, as does the Pontiac guy, and he takes lane three.

As last in line, I sort of oompah out to lane 4 to see what is going to happen.

Pontiac guy wipes out the Mustang, and then the Impala SS. I am on the outside and reel in the SS in second gear, and very safely pull in front of him to see about the Pontiac.

In all fairness to him, he had already wiped out two cars and I suspect did not even realize I was in the chase. In any case, I was now clear of 3 of the 4, and the Pontiac guy more or less shut down. As we had almost a 1/4 mile clear ahead of us, I kept my foot in it.

I passed him at absolute full throttle at around 4500 revs, with the SC at full scream and the Bassani doing the same.

Imagine you are at an International Tennis Match sitting in the area opposite the net.
You know, when the heads go back and forth.

The Pontiac's drivers head swiveled full left, then right as I passed him and he was just shaking his head. It will not pass muster on this board, but I could see him saying "Oh ****".

Non-legitimate kills, but a heck of a lot of fun for a 60 year old.

Bill

Bill,
Know what you mean about fun for us older generation. I was coming up I-75 from a trip to Florida... about 20 miles from my home in Georgia and had a Pontiac WS6 pull up beside me and wanted some.... I was doing 75 and floored it.... the poor kid did not grab enough gear and by 90 I was 4 car lengths ahead. No traffic for over a half mile in front of me, but decided no high speed macho catch me if you can stuff... so I backed off and this kid just kept on going WOT. His ego overloaded his brain and 2 miles up the road was the GSP blue light special welcoming him with his ticket book. The young man in the WS6 looked at me when I went by in a non-pleasant manner.

Learned much younger in my life, ego and muscle car power must be balanced or the blue lights will be in the rear view.

Darn.... this Bolt is so much fun I told my wife it is my Red Viagra pill

Morning Guys:

Thanks for the kind response. As a footnote, I was still in second when I passed the Pontiac and shut down immediately after that, so no 100 plus mph stuff. I love to let Moby have a go now and then, but I don't like buying tires nor paying for tickets so I try to choose method and location pretty carefully when I give her her head.
As to the Viagra thing, first thing I did when I got home was relate the story to my Pat. She just shook her head and smiled that understanding smile I have gotten to know so well these last 40 years.
The furniture move thing will now not take place until the fall. Dad has arranged to move to a 3 stage retirement home and it will not be ready till then. Pat, my Sis and I are doing relays, one going out each month for a week or two to help him out/perk him up, so it's ok for now. Thanks for your thoughts.

Bill
What day was it?
My friend saw you the other day. Said that you took off from a light hard. Asked if you was racing something, but he could not tell.

When you was in cal. I hadm stopped at your store and go two more rocketts and motors. Well me and my son lost both of them. They went real high(only b4-4 motor),then wind blew them very far(400+yards) away. Lost them as went over some trees. looked for 20min and gave up. But still have one that we will try to loose in next week or two.

Bill,
2000silverbulletonorder has to be a young one When you have gone past the half century mark and married (same GA Peach for 27 years).... Therefore I do not think he totally gets the true meaning of what I said. You know that little glean you had in your eye when you told Pat about what you had just done. That comes from us older guys.

Anyway, I think you said your father was a retired USMC General.... I was enlisted in the Corps in the late 60s... got out, learned to read and write and ended up in the USAF... I am still in and will retire in about 2 years with 30 years total time in service.

Send me an Email sometimes "masterloggie@bigfoot.com" and we can chat and maybe get together.
