Angry Truck Trend Trash

Has anyone picked up the June issue of
Truck Trend? They have a Hot Tuner Trucks
cover story that I thought was rather
interesting. There is an article about a
truck from Courtesy Chevrolet called the
Thunder Silverado, a regular cab stepside
Chevy. This article states that in STOCK
form this 5.3 powered Chevy put out 272 horsepower and 321 lb. feet of torque at
the REAR wheels! The flywheel rating for this motor is 285 hp & 325 lb. ft of torque.
So either GM has the worlds most efficient
drivetrain or this dealer is full of s%#!.
Then they added a Whipple blower making 6 psi
headers, cat back and a computer upgrade.
All of this results in 408 hp & 486 lb. ft.,
at the rear wheels. Huh? You want quarter
mile times? Try a 14.57 @ 95.8!!!! This is
from a truck making 400 REAR wheel horsepower
and the reasoning behind the truck not going
any faster is it had hard tires. Boo Hoo.
This magazine has done dyno tests on other
5.3 equipped GM's and I don't remember any
of them being more than 220 hp at the wheels
so how can they print this pile of crap. Also
read about the $60,000 Hotchkis Dakota four
door that goes 15.9 in the quarter, what a
bargain!!! Sorry, but I just had to rant.

Hey Rob:
Read the article, too. That Lingenfelter Chevy Silverado's mods alone cost $30k! Another reason it was so slow is that they had to do the mods to a 3/4 ton 4wd version so it could handle it. What a deal.......

Exclamation

Talk about acting funny. Just because you can print it in a magazine does not make it real...

This afternoon, I was driving behind a 5.9 R/T and a Silverado, doing their pathetic impressions of drag-racing each other. So at a light, I catch up and pull into the right-most lane that ends 400 ft later.

I was merging so far in front, it looked as if I was part of the previous light's group of cars

Angry

Did you also see the article on the "Searing Silverado" custom, and "thunder" dealer truck? The equipment on these two trucks is really the same, but the Searing claims a 14.1 and the Thunder a 14.5. ALso, the geniuses at Truck Trend forgot to carry a 1 and posted the price on the Searing $10,000 less than what it is. Oh, they talk about how hard it is to program and delete the speed limiter on these new fangled trucks, and then a few pages over the Thunder has done what?? You guessed it, deleted the limiter... Way to go boys....

Hey Guys,
Did you guys also read the article about the
GMC Sierra Sportside? The same author of the
Tuner Trucks proclaims the Sportside as
" The best looking pickup on the market ".
Say What??? I don't remeber filling out any
surveys, how about you guys?
