How offten should you change your plugs and what kind should you use? I have denso plugs in it now but ive never changed them yet and i have had the L for a year.

 

What mods do you have? I plan to change mine every 10K miles on the new engine. I have never had any problems with NGK TR-6's, other than a little missing at idle. That is what I am going to stick with.

 

I agree. NGK TR-6 if you are running over stock boost. I change mine ever 10-15K. I have run everyting from Denso's to motorcraft and I keep going back to NGK. Good value too.

 

Denso IT20's for well over a year. I know, I know....

Denso IT22's going on with a 6#er any day soon that I have the time..
What do you recommend for a gap on these? .38?

I would go with less gap than that with a 6#er. You may run the risk of blowing the spark out. Personally, I would gap them between 30 and 35.

 

Why would one change Denso's at 10 or 15K? Denso recommends a 30,000 mile interval. Is there something unusually demanding about our engines?

 

I would say it's cheap preventive maintenance if it were TR-6's, but changing Denso's every 10-15K miles is not cheap.

 

I am about to change my IT20's. I only have about 5000 miles on them. But the driving herE is mainly stop and go, on my initial install I gapped them at .36.

 

On my lightning i plan on doing my plugs 75000 to 100000 why change them early no difference on lightning than any other motor

 

I just purchased a '99 L with 70,000 miles. It is in excellent condition and the only mods are a 1st gen PSP chip and a PSP air intake/cleaner.

It runs great but it still has its original plugs. I know the factory manual says they are good until 100,000 miles but I need some advice as to whether I should go ahead and change them out. And, if I change them, should I go with the OEM's or aftermarket, considering my mild tune/mods?

Yes, I would change them. I would go with a set of NGK TR-6's.

 

autolite AR94s, gapped .034. i would think for copper probably every 15k, and platinum probably every 30k. that's what i would do. actually i am going to pull at least one of mine once a year (4-6k miles) to check it out.
