Wink

The 1st Gen "L"'s will make the L2's look like a pickup truck, er something. 7 to 11 sec Gen1's are awesome!

Great idea Doug. Lil bro and I will probably be there to cheer all of you on. I think you should do it on the 28th to give the out-of-towners more time to prepare.

Why not all go to our local track on the same weekend choosen and have our time slips verified by the track stewart. Then we can see who really is the fastest via time. Or are you looking for the luckest and quickest racer via side by side racing. After all if its going to be the fastest Lightning in Texas we will need to know who and where he is from. Just A Thought. This will also give everyone a chance to compete and not have to travel. I for one do not have that luxury because of my wife's condition.
Use the $100. for a plaque and a once a year event. The plaque could be passed on with the winner for each year, or something.

Well, all other things being equal,HRP is faster than the Texas Motorplex. Period. Even if the weather is identical, TM is 600'+ above sea level. I have never actually verified what HRP is, but from my understanding its at sea level.

No matter which car I race, if the weather is good, I will pull a solid .1-.15 better ET at HRP than at Ennis.

Then you've got Hallsville Raceway near Longview. It's the _fastest_ track I've EVER been to. Not sure why.

So, you'd have to have some way to verify timeslips and air quality conditions. Otherwise, just make it for fun and whoever shows up has a chance. If you can't make it, that's ok.

There's nothing wrong with the $100 prize or trophy, but at that amount you won't get any of the fast Gen 1s to make it, and it certainly isn't worth guys traveling from Houston.

Fun Ford Weekend in Houston is May 5-6. Why don't you guys plan to meet up there and race in the Top Truck class? Just another idea.

Hey Silver, Let me know if you want me to help put this together. We will make it a small event for the Texas Chaper. I know that it would be fun to get allot of people to show up to the track and either watch or race. I for one would like to see the faces on the people out there if we have about 20 or so F150 there. This might also help get them let us have lanes for us to set up in.

Well just let me know if you want help.

Talking Lets find Fastest Lightning in Texas.

There has been a lot of talk recently about who has the fastest Lightning in Texas. To put an end to the talk I decided to offer $100 Prize ( For Gas Money ) to anyone running a Texas Registered, Insured, Street Legal, DOT tire Lightning. Either Generation.

Texas Motorplex in Ennis http://www.texasmotorplex.com/schedule.cfm is near the center of the state. And is a good quality 1/4 mile track. Streetnight on
Friday April 21 or Friday April 28th look like the best days. I will call TMP to see if we can get 2 staging lanes to ensure side by side racing. Also try to get some people from the N TX chapter to take still and video images of the competition.

All Lightnings are welcome, from all states but there will only be one class eligible for the $100. I thought about spending the $100 on cheap trophies but thought that cash would get more attention. I will find a place to post the results on the web.

This will put an end to the stories about some guys fast lightning that hasn’t been to the track.

Open Class Rules:
1) Must be a Ford Lightning
2) Must be Registered and Insured in Texas.
3) Street Legal
4) DOT Tires.

What do you think ? Based on response we will pick a day.

Doug

Wes is right, the level of the track will make a difference. HRP is quick, lots of records set there by NHRA. Those boys up there in Washington at 900 ft> are sure running some fast times i see.

Looks like Dearborn MI. doesn't have any altitude or traction problems with High Risk running a 12.29, could equate to 11.9's here in Houston.

Doug, I'll plan on being there and running, but I don't think I'll be in the hunt for the $100. I gotta practise those launches, and getting my R/T down. Sounds like a fun night.

Cool

Hey Mumbly,
I think you should try to put a meet together on April 28. It'd be cool to see some Roush run too. Just to see what kind of times you could get.

The Wyldman might but 1BADTK won't be there, my wife has a spinal cord injury and can not travel any long distances. Nerve root damage and takes a lot of pain medication. I have to stay close to care for her. Sorry but I would have loved to compete for the $100.00. Would of had a great shot!
I will be pulling for anyone from the HALO club though.
