Angry 2000 Heart Transplant

That's right.

Got the call today. 1500 miles and it's time for a new engine. Bummer.......

The engine was in fact leaking oil out of the right cylinder head and the SVT tech. was able to conclude that my no-load vibrations were at the same RPM as my at-speed vibration RPM's. With over an hour on the phone with various Ford contacts and SVT, it was decided that rather than screw around trying to diagnose things, a new bullet was in order.

Fortunately, they are less than 2 hours from the engine plant, and a new engine would be delivered this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Makes you kind of sick thinking that all this ripping and tearing will be going on under the hood, but I guess it's better than having a marginal engine.

You wait four months to get one, and they rip it from your hands after less than four weeks. Sob, sob, SOB.

Okay, I'm better now. I guess somebody had to go first!

P.S. I guess they felt sorry for me as they're getting me a new rim as well. And star washers for the lower control arm.

"I feel your pain." That's pretty much the heart-wrenching feeling I went through when Ford replaced my trans/driveline. You're lucky if all they take it away for is a couple of days, seems like it was a good 2 weeks or so for me.

Be strong, the wait will be over soon enough.

WHAT04, consider yourself lucky in a sense. I had to have both lower control arms replaced. I took three weeks to get the parts and then wait a week to install them. In the interim I could drive the vehicle, but I felt uncomfortable about it. Dealer had no idea when they would get the parts.

In addition to that, I had to waste time running around town near the Dealer trying to find a place where I could easily replicate the confounded "clunk" noise in the front end.

Also, I certainly hope you are getting a Lightning spec 5.4L engine and not just any 5.4L engine. Can the Dealer guarantee that, I wonder?

Hey redlite,

When they say they're replacing the motor, they mean the whole thing. Oilpan to blower top.

I don't think they'd try to screw anybody that bad!!!
