Well, I went down Friday after work to check on the new truck. It was still filthy from the transport, but I still thought it looked fantastic. The Service Manager, Rick took me out to the back lot to check it out. He said it'll be ready Tuesday. They need to replace the boost gauge and do the detailing. On Tuesday the regional Ford Rep will be in town to consummate the deal. I can't wait!

2000Tradein,
That was how I first saw my truck, filthy from the transport. I saw it on my lunch hour and luckily nothing was wrong w/it and I was there after work to pick it up. We'll keep you posted whether we will be at Firebird on the 14th or the 21st. Would love to see it.

Ok so lets try this as a route. Everyone, please give me feedback, feel free to make suggestions to alter the route and or times.

9:00 AM; meet at I-17 and Bell Rd. (I believe there is a Fred Myer just west of I-17), meet at NE corner of parking lot.

9:30 AM; depart, heading up I-17 to Black Canyon City for breakfast at 10:00 AM.

11:00 AM; depart Black Canyon City up I-17 to Cordes Junction exiting to Prescott.

12:30 PM arrive in Prescott and part at downtown square. Walk around for 1/2 hour.

1:00 PM Lunch in Prescott. I know of a nice Italian food restaurant.

2:30 PM depart and head up 89 to Jerome.

4:00 PM arrive in Jerome, have a beer (only 1 beer everyone!)

4:30 PM depart Jerome via 89A to Sedona. (route modified per suggestion of 2000Trade-in)

5:15 PM arrive in Sedona. Line em up at the airport for a nice photo shoot. ADP, you can coordinate this part?

7:00 Dinner and drinks and stay the night at the Days Inn. (Revised 4/17/00)

Sunday May 7th.

8:00 AM breakfast.

9:00 AM depart up 89A on the switchbacks and up to Flagstaff.

10:15 AM arrive in Flagstaff, fuel up.

10:30 AM head up to the Snowbowl to the base of the chair lifts.

12:00 Depart Snowbowl and back to Flagstaff.

1:00-2:00 lunch at Grannys Closet or Fiddlestix or Bunhuggers?

2:00-3:00 PM head down Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Lodge (have 1 beer with the local good 'ol boys).

3:00-4:00 PM head down to Strawberry/Pine and have dinner.

4:00-5:30 PM dinner.

5:30-6:15 head to Payson.

6:15 depart Payson and head back home.

7:45 arrive in Phoenix.

I'll need help from everyone on these times as I'm thinking these are rough estimates.

Anyone had any contact with any magazines? I'll pick some up tomorrow and make calls Wednesday.

Also at this point, I need a firm commitment from everyone so we can make reservations at the hotel in Sedona.

So, who all do we have?

Lets do this boys and girls!!!

Peter,

Need number of rooms wanted. Number of trucks and folks, if possible by this Friday. (14th) With that information, I will arrange for rooms (thinking about the Hotel on the Airport, Sky Ranch Lodge).

Anyone needing reservations, coordinate with Peter and send e-mail to: adp@ispchannel.com

I will also secure the Airport for a possible photo shoot. Arriving at 17:45 will shorten the available photo time. Perhaps also photo shoot in the morning?

The Airport is a good place to have breakfast, if all agree. Food is good and not too expensive, plus plenty of parking.

Sounds great to me. Let me know and let's get out the Arizona Lightning Owners, not to mention those from Nevada, California, New Mexico and Texas. (OK CA come on down, Colorado owners welcome as well.) You can all make it, right?

Hey, that's what we need, an Arizona Lightning Owners Club (ALOC) or Association (ALOA)!

Not to pick nits, but finding parking in Jerome for 10 to 20 trucks on a Saturday afternoon will be as likely as finding a Green Lightning!

Aloha! See you all on the 6th of May!

Cool

If one of you wants to set up a room for me that'll be cool. Just give me the number to the hotel and I'll call and give 'em card number. My email is bcourtne@insight.com. The schedule looks good to me. The only change I would make is to take 89A from Jerome to Sedona. It's kinda scenic. If I remember correctly it's about a 45 minite drive. BTW, I think some of the Harleys in Jerome will make room for us to park. :-)

OK all, here's the scoop.

Days Inn - Sedona, has up to 30 rooms available on Saturday night 6 May. The prices with discount are as follows:

King Size Bed - $86.40
Two Double Beds - $92.70

Call them direct at 520-282-9166
Fax: 520-282-6208

You must tell them Chris gave you the rate or you might not get it. (Chris works at the check-in desk there.) The rates and rooms will start to disappear rapidly after this next weekend. I would advise you all to make reservations by Saturday, 15 April.

If you make a reservation, please let me know by e-mail, adp@ispchannel.com

Bear in mind the following: Sedona is in the middle of the tourist season. The average room rate in Sedona is $175 per night for anything.

There are practically no other rooms at other Motels available for that night. If this is too rich for anyone, (I’m not trying to be elitist here, I remember the days when a sleeping bag in the back of my truck was all I could afford.) Cottonwood is about 14 miles West of Sedona and may have better rates and available rooms. If you care to stay in Cottonwood, you're on your own!

We'll try to follow Peter's itinerary as closely as possible, so please feel free to join us at any point.

I have modified the route coming out of Jerome per the suggestion of 2000Trade-in, that will cut some drive time out, allowing for a longer photo shoot at the Sedona airport.

If anyone would be interested in possibly sharing a room w/me, let me know as I will be alone.

After work I will be emailing those of you who have provided your emails so we can get commitments.

Come on all, lets respond back to this one and give us your commitments, we need to get a total head count soon!

Peter, I'm in. I'll be calling Days Inn tonight. Could you email me your phone number to JoeLightningSVT@aol.com. (I can't believe I've misplaced your email address).

Thanks.... Joel

Okay. I've got my room set. All I need now is a truck. I talked to Rick and he says tomorrow probably, with an outside chance at Thursday. Looks like I'll probably miss work on Friday!

Well I guess after talking it over with my wife I spoke too soon. I'm in for Saturday only. That means I'll meet you all @ 9:00am on Saturday at I17 and Bell and I'll depart from Sedona after dinner. I was gone all of this last weekend and she asked if I could make this trip one day instead of two. She's very good to me so I'll oblige. Saturday seems like the logical choice of the two.

Joel......

Made my reservation in Sedona for Sat. nite. All invoke your favorite deity that it does not snow! Lest you think I'm kidding, I lived in Flagstaff for 22 years and have seen snow every month of the year. This will be spectacular scenery for any who plan to make it. Omnia extares!

Ok folks Friday is right around the corner. Anyone else interested in the trip let us know and get a room reserved by tomorrow!!

Work has been absolutely kicking my butt, as a result have not made any magazine contact.
Has anyone else attempted to do so?

Ok looks like here are the people we have a firm commitment for the trip ( 2nd revisioin 4/15/00):

ADP--Has home reserved.
Joelightning--He will join us Saturday only.
JRW67--Have you reserved a room?
Yoda--room reserved.
bobb--room reserved.
yldryd--room reserved.
2000Tradein--room reserved.
Peter B--room reserved.
Zonaman--attending trip.
Black 99 Lightning--will be making reservaion
95 Lightning--possibly will be attending.

Anyone else interested come on join us. It would be wonderful to make an even 10 Lightnings.

How many of us have CB's. As a minimun we should have 2; one for the back door and one for the front door. I do have one.

I will be bringing a camcorder.

Look forward to seeing everyone and meeting the new people!! In the words of Al Bundy: LET'S ROCK.
