Z-28

I just wanted to share what happened last night..wasn't much but just wanted to do it anyways..I have yet anyone try me in my L yet and I'm always looking. I just left my house and I passed a Z-28..and gave him a lil' rumble as I passed him. He then got on my *** but it was only a 2 lane roadway. So we got to the light but weren't next to each other. He ends up reving as he passes me and is trying me. I'm trying to catch him but of course my girlfriend is in my passenger seat..so she started yelling at me for the way I was driving so I couldn't do much. The Z-28 ended up turning at a light and i just threw it in neutral and let her purr. Too bad my girl was in the car, cause I would have followed him until we got next to each other to get in my 1st street race with the L. Oh well..What are those Z-28's pushing anyways like 325hp?? I think I could have fed him his lunch..Thoughts...

WAY too many variable to predict it. Are you assuming it's stock? They are not problem stock for stock, but they can be modded to the moon. Local guy has a 408ci strocker and N02 and running real damn fast.

Depending on the year, he may have something pretty fast. I know the LS1 has alot of potential. If he had the late 90's he still could be fast, the LT1 can really be pushed into some power. I personally own a cop car with an LT1 and those motors make some power. Too bad you couldn't find that guy when you're alone next time and really see what he's got!

My 99 SS Camaro spanked every Lightning I ran against. All I had done was a borla cat-back and a whisper airlid with the bottom of the airbox cut out. I'm sure the L's were stock, too... or close to it. Someone that knows how to drive a late model F-body can make them move out.

I'm running a 4lb lower, CAI, VB, Predator tune, catback, etc... and I've run a ton of LS1 cars. I've only beat one. It was bone stock, the guy cut a 2.3sec 60ft, and he weighed 350lbs+

Every_single_other one that I've run (all on the street for what it's worth) has stomped me a new mud hole. From a dig, from a slow roll, from a 60 roll, it didn't matter. You better be pushing 450+ if you're picking fights with LS1s on the street. I'm convinced they are all stroked/cams/head/exhaust/spray.

The last guy I ran (silver Z28, blacked out tails, black wheels, black windows) we hit it from 20mph and I hung for a half second. He opened his cutouts and took off like I was standing still. It was so effing loud I needed 5 minutes to recover, seriously my ears were ringing.

My friend happened to be behind us in his car when I ran the guy, and he said the Z28 was hunting me, and that he was purging at the stop sign before where he caught up to me.

:santa:

my friend has an 00 ss camaro with cam, headers, tb, intake, full exaust, and a 2800 stall torque convertor.
The night he got his convertor put in he raced another SS with heads and cam and he got beat pretty bad, this was before the tb and intake, and he is getting tuned next week.

But yea i raced him the other day from a light, in my near stock 4.6 screw and was ahead (just my nose of my truck ahead of him) for 20 yards or so, basically he just spun like crazy and then once he got some traction it was over for me.

Cheers
-Patrick

:
Im one the other side of that coin ....similar mods 4lb, port, CAI, e-mail tune, catback and FTVB

I've been lucky.....I have not lost to an LS1 yet at the track. They get excited when they see the L thinking its an easy victory.

Last two LS1 wins for me was my 12.3 @111 to the SS Z28 12.6 @ 109 ......and the same night
the other was a turboed 2002 WS6 that I beat by 2 car lengths..... it was close hers a picture of the slip

The guy in the WS6 watched me run and then asked to run me... their was alot of F bodies there that night and only one was in the 11's.

Hadnt messed with any on the street......
