Bill,

I'm very sorry to hear the news about your mother. I would have to agree with most everybody else that it might make better economic sense to rent a truck one way. You said you would need at least a large pickup and the largest u-haul you could tow plus the town car and u-haul. A rental truck on a medium duty chasis would haul much more than that. Did you mean "super-duty" when you said you saw alot of "super-crews" in southern CA? I'snt the super-crew the four-door F-150? It's bed is smaller than the L's. Sorry for the rambling but I would hate to see you sell something you love without checking into all your options.

Bill sorry to hear about your Mom, When I tried to get out of my lease on my truck, I found out alot of things I didn't know. Trading it in on something else is just like as if you owned it. The lease company will have a payoff figure and if Tidwell is willing to give you $$$ close to that figure you are all set. I don't know what your time frame is but you could put it up for sale and give people the option of assuming the lease or buying it.

Sorry about your loss.

You may want to investigate Ryder truck rentals. You should be able to rent something big enough to move everything in one truck.

My condolences as well, Bill. Hope the family is doing well.

Think about flying out to CA, renting a big U-Haul, loading it up with the Continental in
tow. You really do not want to get rid of the L, I'm afraid you will regret it.

Good luck with your decision.

1. Re: Mom,
I cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and thoughts. In the event, it was not unexpected, and occured as she had hoped, quickly. Three days in fact. As regards Dad, he is a retired Marine Major General and is as tough as dirt. He'll be OK.
2. Re: Moby,
Moby stays in the stable here. I learned more than I needed about being upside down in a lease. Item #1 is I paid, as most all of us, full list less a small lease loyalty discount. Item #2 is that the vehicle/s I was interested in, either an F150 SuperCrew or an f250 Crewcab with the equipment I wanted was also going to be a pretty much no discount deal due to their popularity. I would also have gotten nothing for my add-ons and could not use any of them on the other trucks.
3. Re: Solution,
The various brothers and our sister agreed to split the cost of two plane tickets and the largest non CDL U-Haul or whatever and large trailer and trek across the country to Missouri, Georgia and South Carolina dropping things off.
4. Re: The F150online experience,
Again, I thank you. This is as close to a family outside the family I know. Need help, get help, need advice, get advice, need moral support, get moral support.
Thanks guys and girls.
Bill Murray Oh Yes, I would not have left the board.

Bill, very sorry to hear of your loss.
Good decision. No sense of adding sellers remorse to everything as well as your busy schedule. Thanks for the speedy service on th R/C. Jim

Bill,

Been off the board for a while so I just saw your post. My deepest condolences on your loss. My mother is 80 and in good health, but my brother and sister and I are steeling ourselvs for that day when she will no longer be with us. I now call her much more often than I used to. My prayers and thoughts will be with you and your family.

Good to hear you are keeping your Lightning and your solution sounds like a good compromise. Another thought: Is it possible you could buy a good used SuperDuty in Atlanta, drive it to CA and back, and then sell it for less loss than the plane ticket and rental truck cost?

Mike

Cool

My GOD MAN I never even posted to this thread.

I want to tell Bill that my thoughts, and prayers are with him. I guess you could say, that I have an idea of what the experience must have been like. I will pray for you, and hope everything goes well for you during this time.

Sorry for the belated post. I just did not see it at the time.
