Couldn't have scripted a better run with a new Z28ss
SS & WS6 Whine, whine, whine. Who gives a damn about 1/4 mile times. In the real world of light to light racing, where the distances are more around 1/8 mile or less the first one to 75 or 80 is the winner. If you know how to get the L off the line, and I do, then I'm gonna kick you butt, and I have.

I am just waiting to hear Jax's response to BBQ! I'm probably wasting my time, though. I know I wouldn't be able talk to with my foot that far in my mouth! How does that humble pie taste, Jackie?

Guys I realize that anything can happen on the street and I haven't raced a new lighting yet but I saw one running high 13's at the track recently, the same night I ran 13.2@108. What I really don't understand is how he beat the Z both times by 2 car lengths, one from a dead stop to 75 mph and once from a 50-80 roll, sorry but that sounds like bull**** to me. Aerodynamics start becoming a factor above 50 mph and this simply does not make sense! If there are any Lighning's in the Dallas area that would like meet up at the track (drag or autocross) sometime soon I welcome the challenge!

I have read through all of these replies and all of the bickering going on. I myself am a die-hard Chevy man. When the new Lightning came out, I must say I was very impressed with it's performance capabilities. But here's the bottom line...
The Lightning and the SS/WS6 are pretty close performance wise. Basically, the outcome of a Lightning/LS1 match depends on the driver of the LS1. If the LS1 driver is skilled in launching and shifting, then the advantage would probably be in their favor. Yet, if the LS1 driver is not experienced, then even an inexperienced Lightning driver would probably come ahead...
The Lightning probably has the faster 1/8 mile time, and the LS1 probably has the faster 1/4 times. You can disect the comparison all you like. Basically, I believe the outcome seriously depends on the F-body driver...
Can't we all just get along?

You all make come over from ls1.com and tell it to youThis is so ****ing stupid. I'm sick of all this Lightning ****!!!!
I don't care how fast it goes.... it is a ****ING TRUCK you will never get any respect from anyone. Let me slap a supercharger on the freakin Z and let's see what happens. This SS you raced probably wasn't even broken in. I liked to see what your crap would do against me (if it can run that is...Ford Reliability Sucks) Found On Road Dead

Hey GTKiller, did they teach you that kind of language in college? Why don't you have a few drinks, calm down, and try reposting your message in English. You might actually have something intelligent to say, but nobody will ever be able to figure it out until you add a couple of periods, put in a few spaces, remove those *s, and try again.

I'll be asking Steve to lock this thread now. It is no longer constructive or remotely rational.
If a thread begins to become abusive, hurtful, cruel, or inappropriate this will happen more often.
Any of the F-150 members who would like to continue this conversation with the LS1 members, can go over to www.ls1.com though I doubt any of the members here will.
Sincerely,
Metallic Blue

hi again,
i frequent this board because i said in my previous post that i really like the lightning.
i have done my homework and continue to do so. i've read in many articles that L's do the 1/4 in 13.5 to 14.0. respectable numbers indeed. i've seen only two of them at the drags and they went 13.7's.
even when i miss a shift (very rarely, but stock shifter is vague), i run 13.0's.
i don't need my formula to haul a TV; i've got a bronco for that. i need the formula to get me to and from work with a smile on my face, through the 1/4 mile in less than 13 seconds, finish the autocross competition in the top three in my class, and be able to drive at 10/10's on the open track. that's what it's all about. not trash talking.
your original post sounds like it was told by a rice boy bragging about how he just beat a new vette with his low-riding, fart-piped, vinyl sticker clad civic.
your 0-60 and 0-80 seat of the pants numbers are worthless to me. please post some 60 ft and 1/4 times and trap speeds.

Hey 2Much, Just did a search at LS1 and found a post by one of your brethren (suzbndt) who posted "first time to the strip, 2 losses 5 wins" Loss #1 was to a 99 lightning. Once again, homework does pay off. These are so closely matched as stated earlier, that they do make for a good run. Maybe why you like to check up on your competition.
