Question 60 foot times ?

I got Back from my first time ever to the track and it wasn't pretty. I made a total of ten runs and had a best 60' time of 2.189 resulting in a 1/4 mile time of 13.571 @102.6. Most of my 60' times were around 2.5 sec running pretty consistant 13.6 times. I tried launching with the brake held and engine at about 1200-1500 rpm, but got the best results from starting at idle and trying to ease into it off the line and then floor it. I did a search and found alot of you guys are getting 60' times in the 1.9 sec range. My question is have I gotten to the limit of what the stock tires will give me, of am i doing somthing wrong off the line. I dont know all the weather conditions today but it was about 50 degrees F, humidity was very low, track is at about 1200 ft elevation.
Thanks for the help all. Brian

Brian, my best 60' time has been 2.01 on stock tires. Last night it was 2.06. Your times are very good if you are not running a chip. You had very good conditions for your runs. My best time so far has been 13.334 @ 101.94. Your trap speed tells me if you get your 60' times down (maybe on a different track) you will be fast.

You guys running with chips? bggroth, I know you can afford it, its about 1/3 the cost of your exhuast system ($500 chip and filter).

Sorry, took out the mods in my signature since that "ford is watching" post.
I have the full bassani system, superchip, and psp filter. I also did'nt mention that I only have 1200 miles on the truck.
There was a couple guys i went to the track with that had a 99 ss, and a 00 ws6 and they were running about the same or slightly slower 60' times but had trap speeds around 106-108 mph and a quarter mile best of 13.49.
This same guy ran 13.03 last fall. Today was opening day for the track if that has anything to do with it,

Most people are getting 2.0's with the stock tires. You mentioned that it was the first day the track was open? If so the launch pad probably didnt have a lot of 'stick' to it. After a few weeks or so it will provide a better surface for your tires to grab onto & the times will drop.
