Screwed by Long Distance Purchase
This might be interesting to those of you who bought your vehicles from a non-local dealer.
My L has acid rain etching in the clearcoat. This has been in evidence since day one, but it was raining the day I picked up the beast, so I could not see the problem.
I thought I could polish it out, so I didn't go to adealer for a fix until I got the L back on the road for the season.
Here's the fun part. No local dealer will touch the thing. I have to take it back to the selling dealer, like 180 miles away, just to see if Ford can/will do anything about it.
I just called the Ford CAC Hotline, and they basically told me I was screwed. So, I get to take two days off, drive the freaking thing to Grand Rapids, and hope that somebody will do something? Unlikely.
I am getting into a ******* Ford mood real fast.

that is crap. Every dealership should honor your L. What if you moved to Hawaii, and your "home dealership" was in New York?
I live 650 miles from my home dealership, and never had a problem getting anything done to my mustang when I had it. Same goes for my truck. My home dealership forgot to include the brakets for my lisence plate. went to the dealership here, told them they forgot my brakets, and they just gave em to me at no charge.

That is complete (BS)
I had the same paint problem that your have experienced, and the Lightning has been completely repainted. I am "much" happier with the quality of the R&M paint over the stock factory job. No orange peel "none", and the clearcoat is excellent. I hope you resolve this issue, as I went through all the BS that you have trying to detail it.
I worked with Sal Zaino of Zaino Bros to finally get a solution, which ended up being a new paint job. He may be able to provide you some advice, as I know I "did'nt have" to repaint. I could have used 3M finess It or 3M Foam Pad polish, and these mildly abrasive cleaners could have fixed the problem.
If you need some advice call this fella, he will help you to decide if a repaint or just a mild abrasive can save the day.
(732)785-2951 ask for Sal Zaino
P.S. Tell him that (Metallic Blue his GP guy) sent you. Let him know you have the same problem, that I had with my Lightning.
Good Luck!

Thanks, Blue.
The infuriating thing is that Ford won't even arrange to have the thing rubbed out and inspected locally.
I think I'm going to go right into arbitration on this one. I'm not even going to screw with Ford directly, other than to make one call to the selling dealer. I don't want them to get caught in the flack. I have no beef with them at all.
What did you have to go through to get a re-paint? Do you have a reference to a thread here that would be useful?

Unfortunately, much of the service that you get depends on your dealer. Try a smaller non-svt dealer or a dealership that doesnt do much service volume. They may be more hospitable.

BadDog, I do have two threads which specifically dealt with having "all" the problems I was having back at the time of the repaint. Here it is below. I hope it helps!
