2001+ tail lights on 2000 issues

I got a set of OEM tails from an 02 I'm trying to put on my 2000. I know about the screw thing but the lights don't sit in the pocket right. There is a crack bigger than normal at the top and they rock when just placed in there. Does anyone know of any trimming that needs to be done or has ran into this problem before?

I'm actually looking to put a set of 99 or 00 tails on my truck and am curious as to if I would need anything for the swap to fit flush. Do I need different screws or will my stock ones work fine ?? I have an 01....

go for 2000-2003 style (97-99 require wiring in an additional bulb socket)
If the Red ones don't come with screws, the short ones will still work.

00-03 regular flareside lights ?? Are those availible with the reverse light in the center ?? I like that more than the light being on top, but I like both way more than the altezza style stock 01L lights...

Flareside & The lamps used on the F150 Super Crew are the same. The ones your wanting are going to be the 97-99 though, white in the center & 00-03 will be on the top. Only thing is the 97-99 require another light socket to be wired in.

could just be a problem with the tails you orderd? I put the new ones in my 2000 (got the from blue oval performance on ebay) and they were a direct replacement, popped the old ones out and put the new ones in with no issues.
