I have 3 things to say about all of this: #1 Steve, (webmaster) I asked a question not of you at all. I hope you are not directing your comments at me. I was under the impression the poster could remove the topic.
#2 Jerry, How could you have these problems with your truck and not go to the dealer in 12000 miles but go to the dealer and have them tell you they never heard of these woes? I'm glad I didn't get the special drivers seat, A/C and front end chip your dealer is doggin you about!
#3 regardless of topic, all posts must stroke CA and her personal driving habits ...my opinion is to stop trolling for an *** kissin and get on with getting caught and not winking your way out of it on the spot. NOBODY LIKES TO GET CAUGHT.
By the way what are the repercussions?

blue blood, I went by to talk to them before 8000 miles. I wanted them to have all the info on my problems before I took it in. I didn't want to have it sit in the shop for a week while they tried to figure out what to do. I was told they were not aware of any front end problems with any f150's or L's. That just pissed me off, and I did not bring it back. I made them document my visits. If I have to fight them I will.

Hey guys, the facts are:
1. You bought a vehicle because it was fast.
2. Your gone race it somewhere.
3. Your gone hot rod it somewhere, sometime.
4. Your gone try and improve it if there is something out there that will.
5. Your gone improve on it even if there isn't something out there if you are able.
6. If you break it and its still in warranty your gone try and get the factory to fix it.

If you can not afford to pay for the repairs your self, don't mess with it.

These vehicles were made for speed, and are subject to be damaged when doing so. That are not bullet proof. If losing your warranty is a concern, don't mess with the truck. The Warranty covers what you bought not what you built. Some dealers will repair the vehicle and not ask any questions if they know you real well, otherwise how do they cover up what they found.
Would you give up a your job at the service department just to fix a buddies vehicle that had been modified, or risk the manufactur's rath if you got caught trying to do so.

I didn't think so.

I've only been out of the loop(away from the board) for 24 hrs and I see I missed a lot!
Lightnings vs Lightnings(98SVTCOBRA), Lightning vs Vette(Cobra again) and this post.D@mn. MHO is this,I am leaving the truck stock until I see which mods work and which do not.In essence you all are the guinea pigs . I may even wait until after my warranty is up(a few yrs down the line) just because. I've said it before, I'm sticking w/ cosmetic upgrades(personalizes as well as inhances my L) for now.If Ford starts cracking down on asthetics I'll be in trouble! Especially w/ the big silver stripe that will run "sushi" style across the hood onto my drive side door!!!

hi there: first of all i don't have an l so some may think my thoughts don't count but here goes anyway.
i read in a 4x4 mag a good point, if you have modified it it will break. not meaning your work is not good but there is always a price for improving one aspect of a vehicle and not all other areas affected.
myself i'm waiting until my truck is out of warranty to do any mods, no worries that way, come on april 7.
some dealers are good i'm sure i just haven't found any that'll back you up once mods are done.
called mine about changing ring and pinions, after warranty was out, for me, got an interesting answer. he said they wouldn't know how, then said it couldn't be done. i informed him they will no longer work on my truck.

Talking

Lets put this in prospective. If you run 115 octane racing gas in your truck all the time, it's probably gonna have problems. There are higher risk mods and lower risk mods. Air cleaners, aim shackles, mufflers and headers are low risk mods. In my opinion, blower pulleys and chips are higher risk mods. It's your choice. If you want to dance to the music you gotta be able to pay the piper.

Exclamation

Hmmmmm
Somebody seems a little grouchy. The fact of the matter is, they are my sponser for the WFC, I would hope that they would back me, I'm not doing anything wrong as far as my truck is concerned. No more so than taking the chance that I run into the wall with the insurance that I have which does not cover the track. I was stating that it seems some people have had trouble getting serviced because of this mod or that when it is obvious that in some cases it is not the mods that are causing the problems with the truck...NOBODY is trolling for an *** kissing and if you want to take cheap shots feel FREE to email me at ROOKZROOK@aol.com, otherwise back the hell up offa me. In my case my mom my grandparents and my aunt have all taken business to BURT as well as 2 of the girls in my office and a good friend, I recommended them because of the outstanding service and friendly sales people, I have agreed to show the BURT name on the truck and have mentioned them in nothing but good light here and a few other places on more than one ocassion. I refuse to deal with any other dealership. There is a lot riding on my relationship with my dealer as far as I am concerned and I wouldn't want anything to jeaopardize that because we would both be at a loss. They say that if a business does what it should and people leave happy on average they tell 2 other people, but if they leave unhappy they tell 8-10. I believe it. Now BLUE BLOOD if that expanation isn't clear enough for you let me know, I'll be happy to reiterate...I was simply asking a damn question and making a joke.

Ok,
Lets see here,You buy a 30k performance truck,In all of ford svt literature,They show 1/4 mile times and top speed and so on.This IS a performance vechicle built to race and PERFORM.When you buy a f150xlt,It doesnt show times and top speed. When you buy a mustang GT or 6 clynder it doesnt either.Only on svt vechicles.I will feel more than comfortable and somewhat ****y going into my dealership telling them that my truck it acting up around 100-120mph.This IS what these "SPECIAL VECHICLE TEAM" vechicles are made for. They are not typical daily drivers.I dont expect them to take my truck to 120mph but i would make them check for codes and such. There is no reason to not warrany motors and such for a lousy chip and filter. If they decided to, I would personally sue them. Now as I mentioned in the warranty post,Downs ford is selling destructive pullys and a filter kit. They are selling pullies that are overevving the s/c by a good amount .They are doing this without any disclaimers. These pullies are doing more damage to vechicles a hell of alot more than a stupid chip.My point is dont take the dealers crap, tell them how it is.make them prove the chip is doing it.It is really impossible. If i wanted a focus ,I would have bought one for 20k less!
One more thing I have a superchip and a downs ford intake.Try me BIG BROTHER

Cool

Hitman, if you put a Sushi stripe on your lightning diagonally across it, I will have to drive to PA and kill you.

With a spoon. Slowly.

Dan(aka thepawn) If I EVER put a "sushi" style stripe across my L I would hope everyone would be willing to drive to Pa to perform the execution! But w/ a spoon?!? How 'bout just turning me inside out over a period of days?

Lightningquick you are right. When I raced motocross, and we bought a new RM Suzuki, you were told, NO WARRANTY. Why does Ford offer one on these kind of trucks (if they know what we are going to do to them)? If Ford does not honor theirs, within the laws of this country... I'll see them in court. I also can't belive some of you have taken your mods out of your sig.
