Coolant temp trouble code

Hi - need some advice here...Just got a trouble code that stated "Insufficient coolant temp for closed loop fuel system". Can anyone help me out with this? The coolant levels are fine, and the temp gauge reads normal (I've got a 160 thermostat). This is the first time this has happened.

Thanks for your input...

Steve

Your thermostat is causing the code. It's not letting the coolant get warm enough for the computer to go into closed loop.

+1. Some truck can run the 160 with no problems and some can't. Switch to a 170 or a stock and you should be fine.

I would guess that this is happening due to the winter temps here (hovering in the 20s and 30s)...maybe? The reason I ask is because Ive been running the thermo since early last year with no issues.

Is there any damage that could occur if I keep driving it until I get the new one? I cleared the code, and it didnt come up again (so far), but I am still a little uneasy about driving it if its gonna take a risk.

Thanks for the responses guys....

Steve

Yes, it's from the thermostat. The 2002's had a different setting than other years, so the tune needs to be adjusted for the 160. Have your tuner make the change and you'll be fine.
