drop shackles, again (I searched, need more)

I did a search and found some good info. My search brough up some older threads. I'm wondering if time will have created more info.

I'm ready to purchase the shackles. I think I want to go with 3". I just want to verify that if I go with the 3" I can rotate the factory shims. Also, where do you people buy yours. I know there are a couple places I can get them from, and would like reccomendations. About how much am I looking at for cost? 100, 150? I know I could go with the earlier leaf spring set up but I think the shackles are what I want.

Thanks.

get the 4" from JLP. they have 2,3, and 4 inch mounting positions so if you ever need to change the setting you can. i had them on the 4" setting when i had my '04 springs but when i got the '01s i changed them to the 3" setting. later i got the ground-force front springs and had to go back to the 4" setting. now i'm thinking of getting the '01s dearched (or remove a leaf) so i'll end up changing them again.

JLs shackles won't give you 4" of drop.

Thanks guys.

I know that the measure given isn't the amount of drop. I had a set of Belltech 2" shackles on my '98.

So the shackles on the JLP site are adjustable? Or do I choose from 2, 3, or 4 inch? They also appear to be more than thirty bucks. Am I missing something?

I'm ready to buy these things, I just want to make sure that I get what I'm looking for. I want the rear of the truck level, or slightly higher than the front. From what I've read 2" won't do the job and for the '03 and '04 3" is slightly higher than the front. If I can use a 4" with the factory shims (turning them around) I might be interested.

So, do I want to get the 3 or 4, or is there an adjustable?

Thanks.

Yes, they have 3 holes for your choice of a 2", 3", or 4" drop. Since I see you have an '04, I would say go with the 4" (hole) from JL. I just installed a set myself on my '04. Gives you about a 2 3/4" drop. Levels it out perfectly. Just flip the shims, easiest mod to do. I measured from rim to wheel well front and back. Here's what mine sits at: Front-9 1/2" Back-10"

1/2" difference in the back. Perfect IMO.

Good Luck
