Hi,
what would be the best mods for a '99 Lighning?
I live in Germany and it's hard to find any info here.
I wonder if I shoud go with Pro-M MAF, Computer Chip, Pulley or exhaust first?
What would you recommend?
Greetings
Dirk

PSP chip and filter. You'll probably have to wait some though as the guy works a couple jobs. He does quality work though. His web address is:

What are your objectives? Consensus is that chip and filter give you most bang for the buck. Headers and lower rear ends are other popular mods. I've installed JBA headers on mine, and am waiting for Sal's filter. Am reluctant to install chip because of warrantee issue, but definitely thinking of a 4.10 rear end. Going to install Cal-tracs for sure, because all that power doesn't do you any good if you can't get it to the pavement. You might want to ask Christy about a glow-in-the-dark bed liner.

I'm actually trying to rise the top Speed.
Would that be possible with different gears?
Is it right, that changing the blower pulley will likely destroy the blower?
What about the ram air hood, is it any good and how much are they?
Thanks for the help.

Hello Dirk,
I travel to Europe 2-3 times a month, and lived in Germany for a year. I have driven over 160MPH (~240-250K/H) on the Autobahn's, and my dream is to drive my Lightning (one of the faster black ones), on the Autobahn.
I know that none of the normal left lane drivers will believe a "pickup" passing them.
Where do you live and where did you buy your truck?? Next time I am in Germany, and if I am close to you, I will try to meet with you and have a good German beer together. We can swap truck stories, and you can show me you truck....let me know. My Email is ddolliv@home.com.

I don't believe anyone makes a functional ram air hood for the L. yet, but Cervini is working on one. Somebody does make a functional cowl air hood, though, but from what I read the underhood temps on the L. are not that high, and you gain just as much with a filter kit. JBA or Bassani headers are just about a must, too. I would not recommend swapping pulleys, especially if you are going to add a chip, you will overrev the impellor and make expensive noises. I personally like the idea of a 4.10 rear end; that should get you up on top of the power curve at high speeds. There were several posts on this; do a search.
