All About Lightnings!

Just some shop talk...Lets get a big thread going. The forums have been pritty dead lately, so lets get some bs going!

All I wanna know is how do you guys hold up on the streets around your towns? Let's talk about encounters on the street or something. Also, whats it gonna take for me to hit 11's this summer? Could be a long one

I don't really race on the streets. Most of the guys that pull up next to me revving aren't worth wasting the fuel over. Mostly ricers here. I am looking for the 11's also, so I can't offer much there.

I couldn't shake a turbo VW Golf. A couple weekends ago I took the truck out. It's the first time it's been started in a couple months. I let it run for a while then backed out of the driveway. This VW comes flying up behind me. I was taking it easy on the truck but got on the gas a bit. I did a 3-2 downshif and got up to almost 60mph but couldn't shake this VW. Is this normal?

Good luck on the 11's. I haven't been to the track with this truck yet. I'm hoping for 13's to begin with.

I dont race much, I only mess around with my buddies. I have beaten a Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo twice, a Fox body with nitrious, some other rice. The only thing I've lost to is my buddy's street bike. A kid in town is building a S-10 with a 350 in it that wants to race. That should be interesting. Its got a narrowed frame in the back, 4 link suspension, slicks, .411 gears, a 350 with "500 whp", and a 5 speed. What do ya'll think that S-10 will run?

Racing on the street is illegal and can hurt or kill your fellow man. Don't be dumb with a 500hp motor.

11's is a respectible goal. I'm there and feel that a stock block is plenty capable if done right.

Down here in Texas I get much props for my 03 Lightning. Take it out on the weekends and still get a lil bit of them Ricer-Boyz wantin some, but as the owner above stated...not worth it, now of course and unless I run into a convoy of 'em...THEN...IT IS ON. Usually it's like BIG BROTHER playin with his lil bro's friends. Not even fair! But it's good for folks to learn a lesson every now and then ya know? Keep 'em in check y'all.

Still waitin for my 1st lil ole Dodge Snake KILL...been called out once, stepped up to it and the guy wouldn't do it. Told me his truck was "too new." Uh...yeah...whatever BROSEPH!!!

But the usual kills throughout the years...yup...'Stangs, Camaros, Firebirds, T/A's and got me one Camaro SS on my belt. Niiiiiice!

No doubt..good point brother! VERY good point.
We handle our business out at Baytown, TX's Race Park. Just a 45min commute from downtown Houston.
Never let a DumbAzz call u out on the street and fall into potential trouble...keep it on the track y'all. Besides safety, there at the track, everyone will see the embarrasment on those few people that like to line 'em up vs. our Bolts.

Have not had the opportunity, not that I would or would'nt if the right foe came along, but I owned an 00 R/T Dakota with shaker and cuda tips looked great ran 15's. Challenged by crap. Since owning a Lightning I've experienced greater respect (meaning) Vette's and Camaro's now look and listen. Greatest feeling in the World!

I try to keep the street racing to a minimum but some times there's just no way I can let the **** talking continue.

Have encountered Evo, SRT-10, M3, and a new GTO and beaten them all stock (most likely some bad driving by the ones that shouldn't have gotten beaten by me). Then again maybe I just got a very healthy truck.

Also ran into a Gallardo last week and he rev'ed up his engine for me and boy did that thing sound like a BEAST

Thats funny...all the ricers here actually know what a Lightning is and once they spot it they show respect. Kinda like when a schoolteacher steps out of the classroom and everyone goes crazy, then steps back in and everyone is on there best behavior.
