It has been declining steadily for the last 5 years.

I quit posting here and nloc so much after I kept reading the same threads written by different people.

I tried being a search ****, but I aint any good at it. Plus, I would rather go out and live in the world with my truck instead of sitting in front of this devil machine talking about it.

The internet is the debul.

It probably doesn't help that Ford quit making Lightnings and new sales dried up.

That looks like a good set up. It doesn't look like an all that complicated install. It's out of my price range for this year.

I only have just over a grand. I have to get a locking hard tonneau. Have to because we take my vehicle on our (4 day) vacations. I prefer to take my vehicle. Last year I complained to my girl about not being able to lock our stuff in the truck. At the time I was pretty much thinking I would get an SUV. I like what Ford offers but wasn't pleased with the power they offer in them. I looked to Lincoln. I would love a Navigator but realisticly the Aviator is more in my price range and I like the DOHC 4.6. Supercharge that and it should be a sweet ride. I looked at a couple Aviators but couldn't find one without the DVD, nav, and all the crap that I don't want or need. While searching I decided to enter Lightning in my search. Found there was one close by and said what the he!!. My girl was a bit upset that I didn't end up with an SUV (she's now pleased with the Lightning). So I have to have a locking tonneau.

I want the Magnaflow exhaust because although I like the one that's on there now, it's just too loud for a four or five hour trip.

I want the drop shackles for obvious reasons. In this department, stock sucks.

So '01, if you get this and put in on yourself, let me know. Maybe next year I'll think about that.

I have a Honda Valkyrie, the last of which was made a few years ago. Saw this pattern on the Valkyrie boards. When the market stops growing, people lose interest, then you are left with no new topics. Then the boards wither.

If the high-quality posters were allowed to be more aggressive about chasing away the idiots, these boards could thrive (for an example, check out corner-carvers.com). Many of the people whose posts I enjoyed the most have already bailed from the major Lightning boards. Most likely sick of the ignorance, illiteracy, childishness, and tastelessness that all too many here exhibit (what can you expect, I guess from a truck board). "You gotta be cruel to be kind, in the right measure."

Once the tech disappears, there's just nothing left -- just pathetic hard-timers chit-chatting about irrelevant matters, stopping to educate the occasional stray newbie. Yawn. Even the NLOC road racing forum, which used to have a very high level of post quality/tech/critical thinking, is now crickets.

But there are still enough high quality posts here to keep the boards alive for a while longer. When the new product development stops, the interest will wane and the boards will shrink. It's the natural order.

That is why I moved over to www.SVTPerformance.com I got sick and tired of the 100+ people viewing the Lightning Forum, but none of the threds were moving. I still come back here ever now and then to see if anything new or kewl was posted.

I'd agree with you Tim if the general posts on nloc had also dried up, but in actuality they have increased. IMHO this site has gotten slower ever since it became a few east coasters personal blog (not all east coast guys of course). <Ducks, but doesn't run.

If I go ahead and purchase it, and then attempt the install, I will document it as thorough as I can. I did that last year when I installed my pillar gauges which included a lot of additional information and lots of pictures.

Well, I'd say one reason it's dying is that the server is at a CRAWL. It takes forever to load pages on this forum, and it gets frustrating.
