Even at $2.21/gal, I'll bet you still wish you'd had the L down there w/you. That would be the supreme vacation!

Only frustrating thing about driving the L over there is that for us mainlander's, it's hard to find a piece of road anywhere in Hawaii where you can go faster than about 45 for any distance. If you live there, I'm sure you would have a few secret roads staked out. Us tourists, however, have to be content to just poke along and enjoy the georgous scenery.

Ok im going to argue that one.... after living there for 15 years and owning a sport bike and building/driving several hotrodded cars (other peoples) heheh call it a resume

Best stretch of road to really open up anything out there is the nice new (3 years now) H-3 Freeway. Long open wide 2 lane road each way through scenic Manoa Valley, through the mountain and overlooking Kaneohe/Kailua. Plenty of road for top speed runs and nice corners.

If you are more into the tight turns take the Pali Highway from Honolulu to Kailua. Kailua side has some nice twisties and a nice slightly banked U-turn.

And if thats not tight enough for you... First stop light take a right. Auloa road. We used to push it on bikes doing 30-45 if we were lucky. Nice and Tight

Or if you want the nice leisurely cruise- head North on Kamehameha Hwy. Through Haleiwa, Pipeline, Laea. Beautiful country, more beautiful beaches.

*sigh* making me home (road) sick

in Maui my wife & I went up the tallest volcano there (Haleakala 10,000 + ft) it was the most curvyest <sp> road I have EVER been on. I had our rental car squealling the tires ALL the way down scared the crap outta my wife, (have some footage going down, where you can actually hear the tires squeallin on tape). When I stopped to take a photo, you could smell the brakes & rubber. All I could think about was I wish I had my Lightning. But you are right there was really no room to open up the Black Beast there.

Cool

Yoda,

Welcome back!! Now that you're back, order up the drop kit and lets do it! I think I'd like to do the same to mine. Email me and let me know which one you're gonna order and lets schedule the time. Lovin drivin my L although with people chasin me down for road races, I'm worried I'll get in some serious trouble soon. Tonneau cover and bedrug should hopefully be here this week.

Aloooohhhh-HA! (as they say). Did you take a CAT out to Molokini for some snorkeling? If not, it is a great trip nextime. My nightmare would be a Lightning on the Road to Hana. Note, you have a lot of faith in those rental car brakes and tires. ADP and I were talking about getting some L owners together and taking advantage of the Bondurant school discount. Any interest?
