Question 2" AIM Drop Question.........Measurements Needed

Anybody:

I did the AIM 2" drop last night....

Originally from floor to center bolt in the wheelwell, it measured 34". After the drop it measures 32 1/2".

Do you think the missing 1/2" is due to removal of the hitch, rear bumper and spare tire?

I used the top hole(furthest from the floor). But I seem to be missing a 1/2".

Is this the same for all of you that already did yours and retained the stock wheels and tires?

Mucho Gracias!

Just measure from the center of each hole on the stock shackle then do the same measurment on the AIM shackle. Subtract the stock shackle length from the AIM shackle length and you should have a 2" differance. Jeff

Don't think they are required.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Well well then - try throwing your hitch, bumper, and spare in the back of the L and see if you find your missing 1/2".

Hmmmm....

I think there is a little more to the math than that Jeff. If the AIM shackle were only two inches longer, (assuming the axle is in the middle of the leaf spring) would you not only get a 1" drop.

A bit of trigonometry is required to figure out the actual shackle length. The position of the axle along the length of the leaf spring as well as the angle of the leaf spring relative to the groung is required.

As my L is not here yet, I can not do the measurements. However it's not that hard to figure out.

Took some thinking on my part to understand why a shackle had to be more than 2" in length.

Just my $0.02

Tampa, this post is just to funny, some of you guys broke out the tape measure for me to compare ride height...
Why can't you just get a tape measure and measure this with the 2" drop shackles?

Guys what don't you think your lowering shackle is man enough?
