Angry Bad Bad Day

Without going into any great detail. Woke up at 6:00am, left from Austin at 6:45 to get a Dyno and chip from Houston Performance. Got there early, went to Jack in the Box to get grub, on the way there my truck starts missing. Missing for the first time ever, great timming. Hooked it up to the dyno anyway, first run wouldnt get over 210rwhp because of miss, second run it broke from the miss and turned 327rwhp and 418ftlbs torque, not bad but couldnt do the chip though. Madd to say the least. The tuner thinks its either bad plug, harness or injector. Its loosing a cylinder for sure. They also reccomended I take the Airaid off before I take it for repair, is this neccessary? The truck only misses under full throttle and it has no leaks under the hood, any info on this would help.

Caka
From all the flack everybody has been getting at there respective dealers, I would put it back to stock and clear the brain. Unless you have a real good relationship with your dealer. Then call him and ask him what should you do.

Caka,

Take a look at the #4 plug and plug pak at the rear of the engine. If there is any wetness or green (antifreeze) looking goo, then the hose (clamp) on the firewall has leaked on it and Ford should replace it w/o any grief. This is a known issue.

Hope this helps....

Hey Caka, sorry for your problem. Listen to Wyldman, it does sound like the #4 pack problem. My intercooler started leaking on me and I am returning the truck to stock before I take it back. Such a little thing to do to not have to hassle with voiding the warranty.

Thanks everybody. I already put my stock air cleaner back on, but cant find any leak. I'll try to look closer in the morning. Houston Performance said if I switch to a Pro-M 80 they guarantee 25rwhp over stock. So I am gonna dyno with my stock box before I do anything else to my truck. I think the full Bassani was said to only be good for 10 to 15rwhp on a stock truck. Doesnt sound like much. I hope my truck is up and running for the first HALO meet.

Question

Caka,

Why would you want to take out a 80 mm MAF to replace it w/another 80 mm MAF? I have seen before and after dyno results w/the Sean Hyland MAF and it was a whole 2 hp difference. I don't think the Pro-M part is going to be any different.

I think $300+ could be better spent elsewhere. Sal has also worked this issue over pretty thoroughly and came to the same conclusion, I believe.

The only reason I was gonna go with the Pro-M is because Houston Perf. will guarantee 20 to 25rwhp. and I very seriously doubt my Airaid will do that, but I will soon find out. And I did not know my truck already has a 80mm. Also, I think the Sean Highland and the Pro-M are almost the exact same thing, I have seen Jerrods. Trust me if the 20 to 25rwhp. is not legit for $289.00 I will not get it. They said they will dyno before and after the install. The guy that works there said he knows Chuck "Wyldman" and got mad at him one time or something. Not trying to start something. But thanks for all the info guys, appreciate it. Later!

never let the performance seller do the dyno, it's like getting the irs to prepare your taxes.

i just recently had the full bassani kit installed. i didn't do any before and after dyno numbers. i'm not sure what to believe. i can say this: at the track with almost identical weather conditions including barometric pressure, i consistently ran 2/10's better and was running close to 2 mph better. if 2/10's translates to 25 HP, then bassani's claims are accurate. perhaps it also can vary from L to L. it's a chunk of change to spend for 25 hp, but i think better breathing is key to making all the mods work better. i'm going to install a psp filter this week. when i go to the track fri it will be intresting to see how the filter and exhaust work together.
