99SVT,
Have you tried to take off the ASP pulley? My problems came on removal of the ASP(crap)Pulley not the stock one. The aftermarket pulley is so much smaller, that It does not seat on the puller properly. It actually lined up with the lip of the puller, which proved that the design was indeed s h i t t y.

1..Strike,
Read the article that BBQMAN posted above, it has all information you will need to make the right choice.

I have removed the PSP pulley twice with no problem using the puller 99SVT bought. I think he got if from the same people as the pulley. You do have to make sure it is seated right and take your time. But it works great.

Question

after reading the excellent post by MRBBQMAN which is obviously written by Sal, it makes me wonder why anyone would change the pulley. ISA4325, why did you change your pulley since I know you have the chip? Sal's arguement seems pretty convincing to me.

2lb's more boost which means more horse power. Custom chip for my setup also, not off the shelf item. anything that increases HP is for me until the motor lets go, then you take one giant step backwards!

Question

Andre,
It appears that 2 more pounds of boost can be obtained in one of three ways.
1. change rev limiter to 5500 rpm.
2. change to new air filter kit.
3. change pulley.

It would seem that 1 or 2 are easier than three to get two more pounds of boost?
Noel

isa4325,

Glad to hear you didn`t have the same problem as me. I understand that that the puller could work, but I believe that my problem was mainly that the pulley I had was under machined by a few thousands. It was definetly a crappy pulley they sent me.Keep cool talk to you soon

I have the ASP pulley on my truck and have had no problems whatsoever. Some have had terrible luck with stock pulley bending while taking it off and the puller breaking. Isa4325 has my puller and he has taken his pulley off 4 or 5 times with no problem. I like it and have added 2.5 lbs of boost for a total of 12.5. Really makes the Eaton sing.

all three are great mods, and each one has its effect if the truck is tuned each time. Check out the members page on our home page and see what all has been done to these trucks by each individual. (My rev limiter is set to 6500)

I see, i knew something had to be wrong. Granted this puller does flex, being aluminum. but did work well for me.

at what rpm does the moter make peak horse power?if you change your shift points to a higher rpm and go past your peak hp it seems to me like you might get your boost but no hp.also, the pully increases boost through out the whole rpm range.and no, i wouldnt use the pully and raise the shift points to the point of over turning the blower.mine still shifts at 5200 rpm so i think im safe.

the pulley does bring in the boost quicker. so you can set shift points at lower RPM's. Mine are currently set at 4800 in position 1 and 5150 in position 2. my max hp on the dyno is at 4780, so the 5150 works out perfect at the strip. 4800 makes for good street fun.

Horsepower is not the only thing you should care about. My shift points are set around 5600rpm and My truck screams. It seems to me especially when you are racing,Momentum is probaly more of a factor than HP.It is not like the rpms slow after 5000 rpm like old 305s and 350s.So I notice my truck goes alot better with the higher shift points.Put it this way,Your truck picks up speed alot faster at high rpms.than low rpms. When shift points are higher it puts second gear and third gear right in the middle of the power band rather than right before. It seems as though shift points and firm shifting really do make a big differnce in your ET/S at the track.#2 Why would you put on a pully that overevs the supercharger anyway. That seems like asking for trouble. Our motor should be good for at least 5500rpms,The blower on the other hand is probally not good past 14000 rpms.I would definatly not put one on my truck. My 02. cents
