Someone was telling me about a factory turbo charged 4 cyliner mustangs that came from the factory. He also said that it was as fast as a 5.0

Can anyone tell me about this car, if it even exists.

The SVO Mustang was a sofisticated touring car aimed at the European imports of the mid-eighties. It was the first project of Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE), and Special Vehicle Team (SVT), both parts of the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO). First introduced for the Turbocharged 2.3 litre 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission in 1984 model year, it was a technology showcase of what Ford was capable of.

Sadly, in 1986, Ford ended production of this wonderfully balanced sports car due to it's limited run of almost 10,000 examples.

Ohh... and the SVO mustang moves well... I raced one back when I had my 92 LX 5.0 Mustang (bone stock) and he did take me.. they were bad little 4 cyls...

But it doesn't have a chance against a Lightning..

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!

 

Yes these are Very fast cars.They are also very unpredictable.You punch it and it feels like a stock 4cyl and then all of a sudden your tires are broilng and you are in a circle.Very unforgiving even more than the 5.0. They are also look like a preview of the 1987 mustang front end.They look the same 3 years earlier!!!! The headlight is just set back not flush but look just like it.Just goes to show that ford and others know whats coming in the distant future,They just keep it all a secret.Yes they will spank a 5.0 everytime stock for stock.So will the 1986 dodge shelby turbo charger "intercooled" version.Remember ,they came in blue silver and maroon with silver stripes.Only some were the fast ones .My brother had one.
