Is it just me, or does it seem weird that with all the mods listed, there's no upper or lower pulley listed. Going to the extend to change to underdrive pulleys, e-fans, headers with full exhaust, and spacer yet no attempt to increase boost just seems a little odd to me.

totally beat me to it. Driveshaft loop and trac bars, but no pulley? Ask the guy straight up if it's been pullied. If he says yes, I'd buy that truck. If he says no, he's lying, and who knows what else he'll hide from you.

Regardless of any mod on this L I would talk to JDM about the tune, the owner and JDM's opinion would weigh heavily in comparison to any of us simply reading this post.

They may or may not be able to shed any light on this particular L. I would be very surprised if they did not have an opinion and history.

I respect your Bimmer knowledge and I think you will find that many of us who have been there done that know the tune is a critical part of success with L's - again regardless of any mods.

I have seen numerous "ideal mods" with the wrong intent only ending up in boom.

Cheers to you for the research!

"you are correct....just remember the alligator always eats the larger number.... the arrow points to the smaller number.

what?...... I have a 2nd grader."

Damn...you're right. I just got verbally pimp-slapped

Ended up buying the truck...update in a new thread!

EDIT: Just read the above posts. It's a little after the fact but I'll give them a ring and ask about the truck. There *was* a dyno sheet in the glove box showing 404 BHP and 485 TQ dated not so long ago (cant remember exactly), which would seem to my very untrained eye to be consistant with the current bolt on mods. Also, turns out the truck is still under basic factory warranty...and for another 20 months!! Maybe previous owner did not want to mess with boost while still under warranty. I'll dig into the specifics later, but since I picked this baby up for a cool $24750, I'm not complaining

I'm not saying the truck isn't a good deal... but lets get real. Grandma didn't build that truck to go get her groceries in once a month.
All I use mine for is driving to the grocery store, but the store is a quarter mile away.

Comments / advice appreciated before I drop <$20K on this.

EDIT: Also if the truck has been dropped, wil I still be able to haul with it? I occasionally haul around 4-600 lbs of hardwood lumber from here to there...

This was my Lightning originally which I got Aug 2004. I bought it from a Ford dealer in Michigan and had delivered to NC. I was 32yo when i got it and had two good shops in my area that I went to for work. So it was not some young dude that slapped the stuff on in his garage then beat the crap out of her. I did some small stuff with the interior and a couple little things under the hood but left the bigger things to the guys with the bigger tools and experiance.

I traded it in for a BMW 330i in May/Jun 05(man I miss the beast sometimes). When I traded it in it had just a little over a 1000 miles. It did not go out in the rain it was even covered in my garage. Sometimes it would be between 2-3 weeks between drives depending on work and the weather. Maybe I was a little to **** about her???

Well anyways I guess two days on the lot it sold (not surprised). So looks like the L was not for the second owner and when he sold/traded it looks like 6k more miles were put on. I took care of that thing better then some people do there kids. But like any good things I had to part to get something with 4 doors for the new family and something the Mrs can handle.

As far as the list it looks pretty in tact except for the lower pulley missing. YES IT HAS A LFP 4lb LOWER. I got it the same time I ordered the Bassani exhaust system and NGK-TR6's I think were plugs. I had gotten the original AF1 intake and the WC a-arms, hanger/shackles and new throttle body(from sporttruckdirect)the same day also. Man it was like Christmas.I did not do all that stuff without thinking about some extra boost.

I am not sure how well it was mantained with the 2d owner but hopefully he enjoyed it while he had it and took good care of her and as far as me I can say there were no mechanical or body issues with it when I got rid of her and believe me it was hard to part and was in mourning for a bit. Some of my friends were surprised even the Mrs but sometimes you have to take one for the team.

I know I gave the dealer a binder and folder with all the MODS listed as well as all the receipts for what I bought and there was the dyno sheets from Randy Haywoods. When it came to Fords he was on it. Hell I am not even sure if the 2d owner got everything I passed on but my intent was for the next owner to have as much info on hand about the L so they would not be wondering what was after market and what had been done.

I still have pics of the L in my gallery with my other rides. I like to look at her for old times sake. Plus to show im not BSing and it was mine. At least for 10+months and 1+k miles. I just hope someone will hold on to her for more then a year jeez! Sorry for the long post but being the 1st owner and the one that did all the MODS I would try and give some background on the L.
Good luck and i hope this info helped a bit.
