After a week with 2000 L- Warranty issues ?
The truck is great. But once I can tear my hands away from it for a day I will be taking it back to dealer to fix a few things.
1)The front end makes a noise that is not very loud in the truck but is loud as can be from outside when making sharp right hand turns. I think this one is same as 99 problem previously posted.
2) Alignment is a little off. The wheel is canted about 2 degreees to the right when driving straight and level and it seems you have to hold a little pressure to keep it straight.
3) Passenger door insists on being slammed to close
4) There is a gap between the airbag cover and the spokes of the teering wheel that is wide enough to see the workings of the airbag and the wheel. About 1/4 - 3/8 inch.
5) Whenever I push on the tall pedal under my right foot it puts a BIG grin on my face. Wait I dont want them to fix that....
6) Really dont need lighted cruise control buttons. They are a bit disorienting when they are spinning in front of you at night.
Anyone else with similar issues ?

Silver_2000,
(1) I believe I have the same problem, but in both directions. I hear a loud, medium-pitched clunk. I remember one of the older threads addressing this problem, at least for right turns.
(2) Same problem.
(3) Same problem.
(4) No problem.
(5) Can live w/ this problem.
(6) Not a problem, but it can be a tad distracting
-----
(7) When I turn the wheel ~1 full turn in either direction, I hear a brief "whining". Is this the power steering?
Is it imperative that I take care of these things immediately? I'd prefer not to let the dealer handle the L unless absolutely positively necessary.

The power steering will whine if your turn it to full stop.
I have the same reservations about the dealer... Mine had 12 miles on it when I picked it up but the little rubber ******* were worn off the rear tires. Hmmm... Plus I have cell phone car kit install Wed Hopefully Snuglid tomorrow.....The sooner you fix them the better. Obviously before 12,000. The only one that would get worse with age is likely the front end clunk. If alignment is way off it could wear tires faster.

Your concern of a noise when turning wheel all the way in one direction is usually your turn stops. Basically where your spindle hits the lower control arm. If you grease the point where they meet, the noise will disapear. Mine did this with in the first 1000 miles, I felt stupid when I saw what was causing the noise.

I saw my truck being unloaded from the train and actually drove it to the dealer for the pre-delivery inspection. When I stepped into it for the first time, the odometer read 3.4 km...
But, the tires were without any molding pips. I want to think it is a feature of such a performance tire, to be shaved/cleaned up (maybe balanced ?) after manufacture.

Flew to Portland to buy my 99 L. Drove it for about 600 miles while up there. I noticed the steering wheel was about 3-4 degrees to the left. Sounds like a similar alignment problem. It has 2500 miles on mine. I guess I will take it in next week (It will get to Houston this Friday). I guess I am glad to see it is not specific to my L.
Actually it makes front end noise in both directions. Havent been under it to see what to lube yet but thanks for tips.

Hey Silver_2000,
While you're under there, check to see if your lower a arm bolts have moved. There is a problem with them being mounted without using the cam bolts necessary to hold the round bolt in the oval hole. There's an extensive thread about this if you search for cam bolts...

I have the popping in the front end also. Should have taken it in a long time ago, but didn't. I have 11,550 miles on the truck as of today. Do I need to get this fixed before 12,000 miles? Also what can I do to keep those a$$holes from ragging my truck on a test rag, (drive) short of spending the day at the dealership? The guys said they never heard about any popping problems. Is there a service bulletin? Thanks for any help in this matter.

Silver 2000,
Sorry to hear about the problems. None on mine (so far), but I've only got 350 miles on it. I did chuckle when I read your comment on the cruise control lighting. It does want to give you vertigo to watch those little lights doing doughnuts.

I like the lights on the cruise. I wish my 98 GT had them. I don't know if I would want to ride with any of you fellas that have thier wheel spinnin around like that.
