Most of the stock R/T's I have run have been in the mid to high 14's. Your friend has delusions of granduer.

if it's really stock, it has never seen 14's, some of these guys think stock means no supercharger or nitrous.

Motor Trend did a shootout of various vehicles and the R/T and the Lightning were the only 2 trucks. The Lightning ran a 14.0 and the R/T ran a 16.0.

I just ran my 2000 L at my local track w/250 miles on the odometer. Ran 14.3's and 14.4's. My second run of the night was against a slightly modified 5.9 R/T he ran a 15.424 @ 89.3 mph. It was about 75 degrees on that run.

I ran one that was slightly modified. He had a KenneBell wipplecharger, gears, drag radials, exhaust, and some tuning. He ran just a tad slower than I did and my truck was stock at the time. BTW, I ran a 8.84sec/ 1/8th mile on that run.

Yeah, I saw one at Ennis that was very nice looking with a Powerdyne blower on it. He didn't run into the 13s, though. 14.2-14.3s if I remember correctly.

Stock they aren't going to outrun a stock Gen 1 Lightning more than likely...if they did, it would be by a hair.

Oh, and this truck had some sticky DOT slicks on it, so traction wasn't an issue. His trap speeds were like 95-96mph and he was also running race gas.

Talking

On the street the difference is even greater. I have said this before, but a friend of mine has an R/T and he invited me for a "race" (on the public highway...)

We went at it from around 65 km/h and I did not need full throttle to start pulling away from him. The next run was from around 80 km/h and we did that twice (at my insistence !)

The first time I only gave it enough to make the truck kick down to 3rd, and I was again slowly pulling away. The second time from 80 km/h, I went to the floor with the throttle, and the R/T went backwards very quickly.

He stopped after that and said he has seen enough...

Talking

I had to post something here, lol, lol. I was at work and read this thread awhile ago but didn't have to time to post then.lol,lol. I'm not laughing at the question, nor the R/T itself,I'm laughing at bggrath's answer."Hit him over the head and wake him up from his dream." That is classic! I just keep picturing you actually hitting him over the head and showing him this post! Hit him over the head!?! lol,lol Yeah hit him over the head w/ an Eaton S/C!

Hello all..

The R/T's are nice trucks.. quick aswell.. but they are no Lightning.. In stock trim on the street we have all eaten up Mustangs, Hondas, and just about anything else willing to line up next to us.. I have seen guys talk all sorts of crap, show me 12 second time slips.. then get spanked by a 4000 lb truck.. A guy will tell you his Honda runs 13's.. but he forgets to tell you this is on race gas, slicks, no interior, bumpers taken off, 200 shot of NOS and with a 50 mph wind blowing at his back..

I say.. All that talk dosen't scare anyone.. lets take it to the line!!
