Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
I've been to my local track numerous times over the years and whenever I see a Corvette, Z28 or Trans Am, it seems that a large majority of them have fuel pressure meters and adjustable fuel pressure regulators on the fuel rail. It seems to be a favorite fine tuning tool when modiying the GM cars.
1. Has anyone mounted a pressure gauge on the fuel rail to get a reference point?
2. Has anyone measured and or adjusted the fuel pressure after installing a chip and filter.
3. Has anyone purchased any of the engine monitoring software available such as the EASE Diagnostics or the Diacom Plus and then ran an onboard laptop setup to monitor all the vitals on the fly.
I've not seen any posts in regards to the aformentioned topics and was just wondering if there might be some horsepower potential hidden there.

I've used Diacom on my Syclone, but wasn't aware that it was available for the Lightning. Is it?
I would hope the people running NOS are bumping up the fuel pressure some!

You can check them out here! I don't think they deal with Fords, but who knows.

Hello all..
Monitoring all the vitals for your truck are important.. and rather cool.. but as for tuning at the track.. there is really not to much you can do.. I know on my old Buick ( Grand National ) I had a program called turbo link.. It was awsome.. it showed the entire data stream that the ECM saw.. the only problem was unles you had a prom burner at the track with you.. you were limited to what you could change.. Fuel pressure can make a difference.. especially when air conditions change.. but we can not change boost ( without a pulley ) and timing is in the chip. IMHO scan tools are great for diagnosing problems but are really just for fun at the track..

I remember when I had my LT1-z28, there was a lot of talk over fuel pressure regulators on f-body.org about 5 years back. I was interested in it initally but then eventually several people found that the computer would re-learn for the new amount of fuel and lean up mixture even further to account for it. Personally, I won't mess with it on the L. I worked on one car that had some real valve problems with it and it was attributed to the "poorly adjusted aftermarket fuel pressure regulator" that he had on the car at the time. I guess he didn't take the time to adjust the pressure using a proper guage. He was supposed to be running at about 36 psi, but it was set to 22 psi when I checked it with a guage attached to the schrader valve on the fuel rail of his car. Again though, I bet there are a lot of success stories using one!
