I know Frank will be doing the majority of the initial tuning, but Id like to get a hand with the initial start up tune, cause Im not sure if he will be available for that. What size turbo is that? It is huge,it will probably take a high stall speed torque convertor to spool that beast up.How much boost do you plan to run on the street?and strip? On what octane?
Sorry about all of the questions but I own a couple turbocharged cars so this project has caught my interest.I may be interested in turbocharging my next Ford truck someday when I finish my current projects.
Yours looks great so far, keep us updated.

Matt,

Be glad to help you where I can. It all depends on how the turbo is setup, but you'll likely be able to use your current tune for a startup to tune with. Unless you swap maf, injectors, etc. which you'll have to adjust the tune for.

Its a Garrett (Precision) GT42-76 For now I plan to use the 2400 stall thats in the truck, at some point I figure it will be worthwhile to upgrade to a 2800 or so, but for now thats what Im going to run. Im absolutely just going to see what kind of power it makes at certain psi levels and decide from there where I feel it will be safe on 93 on the street. Of course I plan to run at least 110 but prob 116 at the track, and turn the boost up slightly with the higher octane. Ive got a great comparison pic that Frank02L took of his old turbo, my turbo and his new turbo in it. What hes done on the old turbo makes me excited to see what this new one will do.

The MAF is stock with MAFia and the injectors are 60s, other than that the only difference from stock is going to be that the IAC is going to be run remote and mounted on the back of the plenum. Shoot me a good way to get in contact with you so this doesnt get clogged or shut down because of this conversation.

I like the way you have the exhaust run, but am wondering about the heat. It is had to judge distance in a photo, but it looks like exhast is right next to air conditioner components, dryer, etc in at least a couple of places and very close to plastic valve covers. Is it as tight as it looks?

Trying to understand something, why are you bothering to put throttle body at an angle on the new intake? Why not just straight in from the front?

Thanks for the insight into your project.

As far as all the lines, I asked the same question about some of them getting hot, and I was assured that they would be moved out of the way, or not in harms way at all. We should be putting finishing touches on this week, and Im sure there will be quite a bit of little stuff like that. Also, the dp is going to be hot coated, and that stuff is amazing, Ive seen some of the pipes held onto with the truck running while looking for an exhaust leak, so that will help alot too.

The reason the t/b was moved to the angle is to keep the stock lines for the cruise control and other lines that are run in the stock location. Keep in mind, it prob could have been done a little cleaner if mounted out front, but that would compromise the t/b lines, and since this is to be considered a "kit" to be sold, we decided alot of people wouldnt want to sacrifice some things like the cruise control.

I was asked to take down the plenum pics because they have decided to go with an entirely different design.
