excuse me, talliwhacker, for making the correction so folks can google appropriately.

i went with a pinion snubber for the adjustability for towing. i never could confirm from folks that traction bars would be ok for extensive towing. i only have a 2" drop though. I researched this a while back and saw several people using some generic or f150 airbag kits on Lightnings, with good success.

I looked into using that setup and was told that our axle tube is too big, their kit is made for a regular f150.

These guys http://www.kpcomponents.com/default.asp? will make their f150 stuff to fit a Lightning, just ask when you order.

airbags

I run the goodyear assist bags on my HD, I have a 2 " drop in the back and it would bottom out on me unloaded, with 10 psi in the bags I have a nice ride and no bottoming.
The most I have loaded/towed is 2 cr500s in the bed with wood and camping gear and 3 yz250 s in a trailer behind, I had the bags up to 25 psi and never had a problem, it rode just like stock.

Oh and I recently had to replace my bags as I had been running them at 0 psi and due to the bottoming they had been pinching and started leaking, the bags are cake to swap out, and from the looks of it the mounting clamps use the stock holes in the frame. I always have them at 5 psi min now.

Do you have details of the mounting etc ?
Part numbers ? Where did you get them?

They were on the truck when I purchased it used, I got the replacement bags from a fellow NHTOC member, I know they are goodyear bags and were originally installed by an RV outfit. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Oh and as far as mounting they just use a U bolt clamp on the spring to the rear of the axle and the upper bolts to the frame rail, you can mount the inflator valves anywhere you want.
