My '99 Lightning with 27,000 miles is cheaper than my '98 Grand Cherokee with 140,000 miles.
I pay just about $100/month for the lightning with full coverage and $1m personal and property damage. When it's in storage I pay about $20'something /month storage insurance.

I drive it from May until September usually, in 2005 I drove it from August until October. (and still went through a set of rear tires)

Hope it all works out for ya

I think my insurance company rates the L as a regular F150.

well thanks for the welcome guys, i will have 11k after i sell my cars the problem is I already took out a loan to buy my eclipse so ill probley just get my money back on that deal. and then once i do that ill just save for a while then ill sell my other car when ill have just enought to buy a L afterwards. well as far as the 1st gen L goes i dont like the look of the body and there not that fast. I know you can make one faster for less money but i had much rather have looks then go even though id like both. so ill probley just save for 8 Mo at least then sell crap then i can afford a nice 1. i have never seen a second gen with over 100k miles so i wouldnt consider 70k high milage, or is it high fort these?

While at church this Sunday ask your priest to ask your parents to put you on their policy so, you'll have money for Mods ! case solved dear Mom & Dad .

I'm 26 now and had the L since I was 21. When I was 21 insurance was $1200/yr w/ a pretty good record (1 "official" ticket), since getting married, turning 25, and moving the L to an leisure vehicle (<7500 miles / yr) my rates have decreased to $45/month full converage with State Farm. Good luck L hunting!

Well i'm not advertising but mine is for sale.. I have 124K well taken care of miles on the clock.. If you ever decided to buy one I should still have it and will stay at the milage given b/c it's garaged now.. This is a 99 L I will let go for $14,000 Negotiable.. Body/interior in great shape, well maintain and not beaten on.. Only seen the track once and before my beater car it was daily driven 18 miles to work..All other miles were HWY miles from college home (80 mile drive round trip).. fuel pump has been replaced. Has the intercooler fix done by ford (99/00 L were notorious for intercooler leaking). Mods are an Air raid cold air intake, PSP 4#pulley and JDM tuned superchip.. Truck never gave me any major problems, makes lots of power and runs great.. Just did a tune up on it, plugs, fuel filter change, cleaned intercooler, oil change, new EGR components, blower belt.. I'm in Georgia don't know where you are..
Just bought a house so i'm willing to part with it..
Email me at porchaja@aol.com if interested..

Thanks
Lay.

Yep problems fixed.. As with any other Lightning the sparkplug stripped a few theards in the head.. Timesert fixed that and I replaced all other spark plugs with new ones.. Had an exhaust leak at the header which is fixed.. Wouldn't mess anyone over and wouldn't sell a damaged truck to anyone...

Other than that truck is fine.

Just time to move on to something else

At sixteen isn't everything in regards to insurance expensive? At least you have the truck classification going for you.

Even at the ripe age of 39 my insurance did not change from the F150 Crew Cab to the Lightning. You may be surprised?

My insurance for full business coverage is under $450 each 6 months.

Good Luck!
