4.10 gear set question

Thanks to a link provided here, I have found a 4.10 Ratio 8.8 Ring and Pinion set for under $200. Questions - will this work with the JLP 4.10 Gear install kit? Any opinions (good or bad) on the Ford Racing gear set?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

8.8 won't fit.

I have 4.10's and LOVE them. You can sometimes find them in NLOC classifieds.

Lose top end? I'm guess I lost a little. I still run the stock 18" tire. Next summer I'm upgrading to some 20", so that should put me near where I was stock.

How fast?
I dunno. I raced a Cobra on the expressway this summer, side by side and we were well over 120mph, but had to slow down for traffic... i could have kept going. If the lightning is areodynamically speed limited to 140's, my added power should should push it to at least that (with the 20's).

It is much much faster off the line... It's fun to drive again.

Crap. Well, thanks for letting me know before I wound up getting the wrong part... Saved me a lot of heartache.

I want to do them as long as I can still do 140 mph with my 22’s

well with F1's I ran 12.7 at 110mph, (that's my best with F1's)
With slicks it was 12.5x at 110mph.

I can't compare it to previous runs, because I added bassani shorty's, hi flow cats and a ported intake along with the 4.10's.

It is MUCH faster off the line.
