Can anyone from LI come with me to JDM Thursday ?

With this dam strike 150,000 attemepted to take the LIRR to NYC yesterday
thats more than 50% over the already impossible and over crowed morning norm so thats out. They're saying up to 3 hour waits at the station, same with the cross over at jamica so that aint even a thought anymore.

Enterprize WILL NOT let me leave a rental in NJ

And I havent been able to get a hold of Night Moves to flat bed it here,

SO the only shot I have of getting it in the next week or 2 is tommorrow
(Thursday) on my own.

Anyone in LI that can come with me in the Mitsiwhatever and then drive the mitis home following me in my L ??? I'd want to leave early (like 6-7am)
Hopefully we can be back here by 12-1 so I can go back to work in the afternoon. I'll of course pay all gas and tolls and even throw you a Hundred

If anyone can, please let me know
rob3832@hotmail.com
or call me at work all day today 631 475 3170, just ask for Rob
THANKS.....

Hey Rob, I'll be up in NY next week. Won't have the L, as it is a long drive, but wouldn't mind checking your ride out if any of you LOONY guys are getting together before the end of the year is out.

Rob, like I said give National Rental Car a call. I picked up a midsize here in CT and left it at LGA in March when I flew out to Texas to drive a Jeep home for my brother. I paid under $100 for it. That includes me having to pay an under-age rental fee of $35 because I am under 25. If you got a compact car you could probably get down there for about $50. Give it a shot: 1-800-CAR-RENT -Mat-

Rob,
I have you cover crack of dawn on Saturday if needed. can not take off of work this week. so if you need it on Saturday just email me at tomb@pcffund.com.
I plan on stopping by my grandma's house about 40 minutes north of JDM so it is no big deal for me to drop you off.

Since Rob has completed his mission here, I have a question for you folks in the New York area. The transit workers strike and it's problems are all over the news.

What's the story? They are showing pics of folks walking miles to work in freezing weather. Traffic jams all over the place.

Any first hand accounts would be interesting. What are they going to do up there? Do you think the transit workers are going to win?

Justin, I got 50 bucks says some crazed commuter thats been waiting hours to get home (and still hasnt got a train) knocks your *** of the monster and finds his own way home

I dont want to give my opinion and **** people off on the strike
BUT OK I WILL ANYWAY

They should fire every got dam one involved and or cut their ***** off for doing it NOW (on Christmas Week)

Now please DO NOT take that wrong, I believe in Unions and support them 100%, amof we have 282 and 888 in my Company. When the Teamsters are on strike yes we open but we DO NOT make any delivery's nor move their trucks, NO MATTER HOW LONG THE STRIKE IS. And under normal conditions if our drivers pull up to a job strike and lets say the carpenters are on strike, our union drivers WILL NOT cross the line, and I as a Saleman will argue all day with my customers that we AINT, because I BACK THEM.

But to criple NY City, destroy the entire Holiday for millions, and more importantly to do this NOW and cost the business owners millions and millions of dollars in loses "WHICH THEY ARE" due to last week shoppers that now CANT get to the Big Apple, due to the tens of thousands that have already called off going to the City for New Yrs Eve to see the Ball Drop,
the TOP BRASS IN THE UNION should all be fired,
NOT the workers (the poor worker has no choice) he now has to pay back 2 or is it 3 days for each "1" they strike. Last time this happen my buddy was docked weekly from his pay check for I believe 2-3 years to pay the money back.

YES the Transit showed massave profit this year, and YES the workers deserve more, BUT this was not the time NOR WAY to take a stand,
NOT NOW, not on the final "and largest spending" shopping days, not a week before the Ball Drops, not during Finals in ALL NY COLLEGES.

Oh ya heres something most can relate to. My youngest Brother is a Professor in a NY College, Guess What ??? They had to close the Colleges because NO ONE CAN GET THERE. Now usually that wouldn't be a problem,
BUT guess what ??? It's final week here in the NY College System and the end of the semester, and here's what happens, everyone THOUGHT they were out of College and through another semester this week, Sooooo they ALL MADE PLANS TO GO HOME TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Now they are left with this, either you take the test next week, "or" YOU FAIL PERIOD. My Bro is getting hounded, everyone is e-mailing him, everyone made plans, everyone wants a private test time and place before the Holidays, the school is telling him all his students, all his classes, all must take the test before the break OR THEY FAIL.

Hello times that by every student every teacher every class in every college in the City, AND DONT THINK TRANSIT DIDNT DO IT NOW WITHOUT KNOWING THAT TOO.

For those that work for them, AGAIN I'm behind you, YOU DESERVE MORE, BUT THIS WAS NOT THE TIME.....

Ok I think I pissed enough people off for the evening......

That really shouldn't pizz anyone off Rob . I was about three lines into your post and just started LMAO. No really...tell us what you think...don't hold back.

They are saying on the news that some jail time is going to be had if the illegal strike isn't stopped immediately. I worked out at DFW airport when the air traffic controllers did the illegal strike trick. I worked for a contractor callied Allied Fuel Services. We fueled airplanes. Most of us out there where TWU. When the strike first started, everybody was talking in support of the air traffic controllers. Two days after the strike started....darned near 65% of the employees at the airport started getting layed off. Baggage Handlers...fuelers...you name it. Suddenly everyone wanted to break their leg off in the air traffic controllers *****. It took about a month...but they where all replaced and we all got to go back to work. Most of those guys working transit are unskilled labor that can be retrained in about 3 days. They will be amazed at how many people line up for the job openings.

LMAO at Rob

Yep, you sure tells everything! Huh Rob?
Still waiting for the "other" shoe to drop. And you know exactly what I mean. After all, like you say, you owe it to the community
And when should they go on strike Rob? You make it sound like there is a better time. You do understand that when you go on strike, You never recover what you lost. You go on strike for the future generations that will have your job. Just like the past generations that went on strike for your wage package and health/pension packages. There really is no good time. But what many don't realize, without the unions setting the wage/health/pension standards......every single working person in this country would be working for alot less money than they are now. There would be no 401K's, health insurance, overtime etc

Hey Rocks
Don't know how much is known about the strike outside the tri state area. But in a nutshell, the MTA has a BILLION DOLLAR surplus!
They want to move the retirement age up to 62 from 55. You want to work till your 62? I know I don't, hell Iam thinking of going out now. They also like every other company in this country, are struggling with the cost of health benefits. Its just hard to accept cuts to your health/pension when the company is bragging about a cash surplus. Hell, I don't know all the facts and Iam sure both sides think they are right. Thats what collective barginning is all about
Its funny that you would mention the air traffic controllers strike. You do know what happened after Reagan broke that union and they replaced all of them?
The non union workers where complaining about the very same thing the workers went on strike for.
Unreasonable working conditions........
Long hours infront of the screens
Outdated equipment

Kinda funny, isn't it
jumping off my soapbox

And Rob, why not this.........

Your a big shot salesman for the plumbing store.
Make up an order for 500 crappers shipped to JDM in Freehold.
Jump in the truck when the order goes out. It arrives in Freehold and no body knows a F'n thing about it. The order is cancelled and you have your ride to Jersey........... Problem solved!!!!!

Just think about it this way. The sale would have your name on it, so nobody would question it. Everybody would think it was another of your mix-up's
