Same red one from the front. Note the silver flareside beside it. The silver flareside one was fresh out of the plant so it leads me to believe that they will have some silver ones soon!!! Another nice red one in the rear view!

PBGAS:

Technical question, please.

Black trucks have black mirrors, red truck has red mirrors but the white one seems to have black mirrors. Have not seen a brochure, but thought mirrors were to be color keyed in 2000. I happen to not like the black mirrors on my white Moby '99.

Well....that's about it! Hope everyone likes the pics and appreciates it. It took me the better part of the afternoon to wait for my contact to meet me and I was worried about getting arrested for being on private property!! It always helps though when you have an inside connection.

Some things to note.....these trucks are NOT parked against a fence with a bunch of other Lightnings. They are in fact put in different sections of the plant storage yard in groups of 3 or just by themselves. This is obviously for security reasons. According to my contact, they are also not shipped in closed trucks or closed rail cars (other than outside shielding on the rail car). So...they have already been exposed to the salt/snow up here (hopefully not much though). We just had a bit of a winter storm the other night which will explain some of the snow that was on the trucks. All in all, they don't receive any special treatment other than where they are parked. So...don't believe the rumours about inside storage. There is none in the plant as I obviously found out!!!!

Hope this helps!

Let me know what you think!

Hi Bill!

Actually....they do have white in them. What you are seeing is a black plastic trim around the white part of the mirror. Seems that they only painted a part of the mirror that is not a trim piece. I.E....they only painted the upper portion of the mirror to match the body colour.

Great work Paul!!! You should be a reporter Those trucks look great. The only thing I don't care for on the 2000, is the way they changed the taillights. It just looks weird to have the white dot for the backup lights at the top of the lens, instead of centered. I think I'd put 99 lenses on if I had a 2000.

Sal, I agree on the tail lights. That was a 'cost save', and they cut out one bulb.

If you buy the 97-99 tail lights, you'll need another pigtail w/socket. But, on the other hand, it's not much to wire them up the right way then, instead of the way they come from the factory. Brake lights only work on one bulb anyways...run a wire from the top to the bottom bulb and then they'll both come on for brakes.

One more thing,Did ford cut cost by not giving 2000s a polished tip? I know these tips seem to look like regular pipes not polished.I really cant tell. But they do look like the polished tips after a week of driving I would just think they would be more shiny new?
