ordered on 10/18/99. chose white because I already have a silver F-250 in the driveway. Just wanted the cd changer but now it sounds like I'm getting everything. Checked my order today, it is still claen and unscheduled.

I ordered my Black Lightning on 12/19. I'm getting the first of six total that my dealer is getting. I am being charged sticker. Nothing more, nothing less. I was hoping for a little off the sticker but I think the dealers know these things "fly" off the showroom floor (literally and figuratively!). At the time I ordered, the CD Changer and Towing package were listed as standard and the tonneau was not an option.

To date, still no build date. Dealer says to expect delivery mid-April. Big demand for these trucks in Charlotte. 2 Ford SVT dealers in the area, 20 trucks available and I GOT ONE!! Trucks are selling at MSRP, take it or leave it. They were so tight last year that they auctioned off the last truck to the highest bidder - $42000.00 they say.

 

Ordered again on 15 Jan 2000. Originally ordered from local dealer who was going to give me a deal!!They said it wouldnt be more than MSRP. They stroked me over and over again.
Went out of state and ordered it from Oregon. He said 2-4 months to be realistic for the delivery date.

 

I ordered 1/21/00. I was told there were no options other than possibly the T Cover which I declined. Silver is the fastest color. Dont know how I got Lucky But I have VIN number and expect the L in 10 days or less. Also learned a great deal about the ordering process, I assembled little bits of info here and there and if I were ordering again could track the order myself (Only needed since dealer is clueless ) from the factory through the rail system to the dealer. Send me an email if you have order pending and want to save a bunch of time finding info on your truck.

Oh yeah, anticipation is really starting to kick in but HARD...

I knew I was getting a 2k Lightning from the time I saw the 1999 in person. We were actually shopping for a new car for my wife (we only had the Escort at the time), and the dealer still had a white L at the showroom. Seems like someone didn't follow through on his order, and they had an 'extra'...

Of course, we couldn't get the L at the time, the wife wanted the Contour. And no, I couldn't talk her into the black SVT Contour since that was more money than she wanted to be driving around. Our salesman was a very nice guy, didn't seem to play any games with us. I told him at the time if he got us a good price on the Contour, I'd buy a Lightning from him next year. He didn't believe me, but he still got us a very good price... and I've been dying to get my truck ever since.

Heh, imagine the guy's face when I walked in to 'order' my truck.

Placed my deposit for the red on 3FEB00. Order confimed by Ford the same day. Had to fight (just a bit) with the sales manager, but we finally agreed on MSRP (sorta helps that there are 5 SVT dealerships in the Portland metro area, even though some of the other shops were asking $2-5K over sticker). I'm suppossed to have my VIN this week, and the truck itself in about 3 weeks.

Waiting sucks...
