OMG! I'm only half way through it (loading very slow) but that is funny stuff! I did not know we had the same engine as the Ford GT! Wow, I'm gonna keep my truck for sure, now! Oh god...I can't take it! he just took it four wheeling...and said it comes stock with a gun rack! You want your tea(bag) you stupid brit! (no offence, or not much anyway, to the likes of Ricki, or english adam, or others, but you got some messed up thinkers over there!)

 

I would say that a Lightning is junk compared to what he normally drives.

Come on, you know we are all biased.... If you REALLY look at the interior
and the fitment of just about everything about the Lightning, IT SUCKS
compared to the SRT-10 ... Sorry if you don't like the truth, guys ...

 

Yes, while its not stellar, its not sub par either. Yes, the SRT is nicer, but it is 50k, and last time I checked, it is not made it england. Also....the fit and finish on my truck looks far nicer than that one...I think they may have pryed on some of those seems, and left latches open to make it look worse. Again, to sum it up....stupid condesending brits!

But first I will say the "L" is very popular over here and the Harley, in fact the whole "F" series plus many other makes of truck and car are common place.
Line up for a street race and your up against many 10 sec street cars both old and new - real muscle cars with badass big block motors on gas (nitro) who will give you a good run for your money.
Plenty of big old and late motors with a good standard of engineering, tune & finish.

Truck well the late Ford is everywhere like it or not Clarkson ( He is the **** head that presents top gear ) it's here to stay, and just to correct him the new GT40 does not have the engine from a F150 Lightning and you would think he would know as he brought one. The Tosser.

He slags off the L but watch the video clip - who the hell makes a right hand drive one ??? it was a conversion and a damm poor one at that.
Look at the detail of the dash board it's pants, and the seating arrangement.???

I have had the fancy Jap trucks, the 4 x 4 Mitsi that would not pull your foreskin back let alone get you out of a muddy field - we have the old landrover for that job.
My old Ford P100 diesel 2 x 4 did me years of service. RIP +
My new X5 4x4 does the running around.
The big Ford Iveco 10ton Truck and my 32ton Man 8 x 4 Tanker earn my wages.

My Lighting does the business on road and on track.
Now on my 2nd one as I have sold my 2000 and have a 2003 (Red Rocks)
Just waiting for JDM to deliver all my goodies and it will be the "Dogs Bolloxs" for next season. watch out George I am gunning for you.........

The Europeans are so uppity. I would much rather have a tin can with a small engine, but tight steering, not!! The steering needs to be loose because when you reach down to the floorboard for a beer you don't want jerk the wheel and go off the road. Jeez if they call a Lightning a leviathan, what would they say about my SCrew?

My sincerest apologies to good people like you, who I may have offended. (I wrote a big long post, but it didn't go through, so this is going to be shorter) I'm happy that you guys see this clown in the same light as we do. Not every vehicle is going to shine in every climate. As for my comment about lack of good brittish engineering...I forgot about the Rover. Great product! (even if it did have some "quirks") Every country has thier outspoken azzclowns, and Lord knows the US has its fair share. In short, someone needs to kick this guy in the jimmy, and send him on his way! To all other Brits I may have offended....

The thing is with this "stupid britt" is that he owns an Ford GT !
I usually like this program, its really funny. But evertime they are comparing different cars, brittish cars always is the best. Even if they compare a BMW M5 with a Vauxhall vxr, the Vauxhall would be the better car in their mind.

Top Gear is as much about the comedy and irony as anything else.
They know full well what they were doing.
If they had taken an unmolested (not RHD converted) L and driven it on normal roads or at the strip, it wouldn't have made for such a good segment would it?
True, the L / HD is just on the point of being an inconvenient size in our car parks (designed with smaller spaces) but on the road, I never have a problem.
I don't think I've seen a single L / HD over here without a lockable tonneau cover and guys who off road (while wanting a US truck) go for a 4wd model and forgo the performance.
Also, if they had done the same piece but with an SRT-10, you would probably all be laughing.
