I usually like this program, its really funny. But evertime they are comparing different cars, brittish cars always is the best. Even if they compare a BMW M5 with a Vauxhall vxr, the Vauxhall would be the better car in their mind.
Owned a Ford GT in the past tense. He whined like a baby and returned it because of the damn third party alarm system would go off occasionally. Clicky here to read this ******'s drivel: http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/art...677058,00.html

I think collectively, everyone's had enough of his bleeding vagina. He used to be interesting, now he's a stuck up *****.

I'd love to see his remarks when driving a hard core Ferrari, Lambo, or the like. In America we wouldn't buy a small box w/ a mouse motor and tight steering. Pull up to a red light in one of those econo boxes and you'd get the same results as he does with a Lightning in the confined, tight, and nasty roads they drive around on. Refined, I think not. More like old school!

On a side note, I occasionally have coworkers from the UK visit. They always want to take a ride in one of my vehicles. Always, loud, fast, and obnoxious. They get the biggest kick out of an 8100LB F350 Crew Cab laying smokey burnouts....literally.

Because of that arrogance, the once-mighty British empire has been reduced to a footnote in history, while America grew to dominate the world. So now the English have nothing better to do than to make snide remarks about the barbarians around the world - including the ragtag bunch of illiterate farmers who kicked their snooty *sses back to England a few hundred years ago.

No reason to nuke them. They are slowly dissolving into irrelevance anyway.

Doesn't his co-host also host "Brainiac" on the G4 channel? I love that show.

I bought my 2004 2 weeks after that was shown. That truck he was in was a real dog. The conversion was awful!!! I was suprprised at how good they were after seeing that (thus I bought one!).

RHD conversions cost about £6000. (£10000 ish). And the people who do them aren't exactly the best! I wouldn't touch a converted one with a stolen barge pole!

But as has been said above, Top Gear is light hearted entertainment. I watch it every week and love it. Certainly not to be taken too seriously.

When i watched it i had a fit ,swearing at the TV AND SHOUTING
I dont mind him slagging things off in his reports( he can be quite funny) but only if he is being truthful, that piece was nothing like truthful
(except for the bit about the brakes). No one takes an L offroad
I was going to send Top Gear an email asking them to do a piece on how good a Range Rover is up a drag strip
By the way some of you,if you really dont like us Brits just ask and we will leave. Please dont paint us all with same brush,i am sure all you guys over there are not George W Bush clones.

My point exactly. If my opinion counts for anything...you are more than welcome here. I just hate when people get all arogant and belittle our products. I had never watched the show, and didn't know how serious or joking this clown was.

I think it is hilarious!

If I took it seriously my reply would simply be - Jealousy will get you no where! The truth of the matter is when you are paying 2.00 Euro a litre at 4.5 litres to the imperial gallon the statement that the L is thirsty is an understatement!

Still got a good laugh from it.

Cheers Whip
To give you an idea Dan,every week i put about £75 worth of fuel in.Thats about $165 a week But if ecconomy was an issue i wouldnt have brought an L,it would have been something with a 4 cylinder engine.
People over here buy American motors because they are different to the "Euro Boxes" we usually have on available.
As a matter of interest J Clarkson really raved about the Holden Monaro,i think its called a Pontiac GTO in the States,so they (Top Gear)do like some non European cars. They also rubbish a lot of our cars as well.

Scott, I hear you loud and clear. I was just in Monte Carlo in Sept. saw too many top end vehicles to shake a stick at, but I do have a picture of my 6'4" 235lb Canadian a$$ standing beside a "SmartCar".

For the record, this is where sensibility comes to play and if I had a choice of driving a Smart Car to and from work............. I would do it in a heart beat.

To have fun mind you - the L just can't be beat, well u know us Americans are out killing bears and such!

Hey Guys

See that photo of the "Mini Pickup" if that was an original one it would be worth a small fortune.

Talking of "Minis" does anyone remember the famous Red/Orange & Yellow Mini Van from the late 70s & 80's called "Stripteaser" complete with 5.3ltr V12
that ran some awesome times and entertaining wheelies

The other street / drag car was the John Dodd,s Rolls Royce with a 27Ltr
Yes guys 27 litre Rolls engine from a aircraft - now living in Spain I believe.
That motor sounded awesome when would up

Clarkson will keep slagging off American motors, fact is many of our large panel vans such as Transit and Sprinters share a similiar footprint on the road so the width / size issue is bo##o##s. To be fair the show tested some awesome motors and some crap one's too.
Smart Car voted worst handling - so things realy suck.

There are large numbers of American Trucks to be seen daily on UK roads
and most are LH drive.
I think I am right in saying Ford do not make RH Drive 150's certainally not Lightnings anyway.

When my L is finished I will take it down to Dunsfold Park and show that woolly head what it can do.

Hey Guys it's Christmas soon :santa:

BTW where did the Vetts finish in the 24hr Le Manns ahead of the all the others I think.
