I was wondering if one of y'all could clear up some questions I have about the delivery process.

I ordered my L back in August from a dealer in Houston and my salesman claims to have put my order in the next day. If this is true, it seems that I would be pretty high up on the waiting list.

My question is this: Does Ford send Ls out by order date, region of country, or something else? I am assuming that as one is built it is shipped, but I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I understand correctly, The factory didn't start accepting orders on the 2000 L
until November!! If I was you I would be at MY dealer making sure they actually ORDERED IT!!

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the way Ford schedules these things. My dealer ordered 7, and as of Friday had two scheduled, both silver. One of them was a customer car, but the other one was for stock, which had not even been ordered. Ford is not supposed to do this. They are supposed to fill all the customer orders before they build any vehicles for dealer stock. My dealer said he will give one of his customers a chance to buy the unordered truck, which might move me up on the totem pole (or not). Go figure!

Do not know about the factory accepting orders until November, but the Ford vehicle ordering computer was accepting orders earlier. I have my Vehicle Order Confirmation work sheet with order number on it dated 16 Aug 99. At least the Ford computers were accepting orders for the 2000 L then. Build of my Lightning is scheduled for the week of 21 Feb. Based on the 99 Lightning owners troubles in getting deliveries, this may be a mute point.

 

last orders first, first orders last, middle initial. unless your in the south, then your dead last. my dealer was alloted 6, ordered 2ea color (99's) and simply changed colors (to all black) as they received deposits, and from canada to new orleans, they only got them 2 at a time over 6 weeks. i ordered in january 99 and was 4th of 6 and got "the call" in late july, good luck , it's worth the wait.

 

I just got a call from my Ford dealer telling me that my '00 L will be delivered 02/22/00. I hope this 'dream' comes true, but I have a funny feeling I could be waiting a bit longer than that. One sheep...two sheeps...three shee......

I had not recieved a build date previously. I'm actally doing all I can to keep the suspense, (agony), to a minimum. The dealer did tell me the build start date was 02/07/00, HEY that's TODAY!!! Wow, I guess I'm a little slower than I thought!

Oh no...Here comes the agony again!

Hey Baby Jake,

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but I was just thinking. Your dealer told you that you would receive your L on 2/22, well keep in mind PBGas on this board lives very close to the plant and he is checking every weekend to see if Lightnings are rolling off the line. As of this last weekend he hasn't posted that there have been any manufactured, so I kinda don't think you'll have yours by 2/22, if none have been built yet. And my dealer is firm on his statement of JOB 1 being Feb 21st.

My Dealer tells me it takes 3 weeks just to get a confirmation from Ford as to the order. Christy if you can get a good confirmed date on a Silver one it might be worth the trip to Colorado to get it. If it is soon enough maybe we can get dinner on a ski slope somewhere. The $1000 non-refundable deposit at current dealer becomes a challenge. Maybe just wait for it to come in too and figure out a way to race myself side by side.....One race I would be guaranteed to win everytime
