Dropping my L

Yeah I'm so broke I have to sell my welds, but I wanna drop my L. I've been thinking of getting rid of the truck altogether too but I change my mind everytime I drive the damn thing.
Anyway, I already have the ground force kit... and I'm happy with the front, but the rear is too jacked for me. I just wanna level it out so I can lose the hitch already without it jacking up even more... any ideas?

Western chasis makes a 3" adjustable shackle...that might drop you another inch.
You could always remove (1) leaf spring if that isn't enough. That would probably
be the cheapest way to go.

I just installed the JLP rear shackles and I went with the 3" setting, but there is a four inch which would probably get you where you wanted to go.

Good Luck

I wasn't aware there was a 4" available. Cheap, easy, sounds like the way to go.

Yes; JLP's 4" shackles will give ya another inch of drop. Find some 99~00 rear leaf springs and it will drop another .5~1 inch or so.

Cheapest way out is to lose a leaf or two. It may also help your launch a bit by lessening shock loads.
I am planning to do this over the winter, but occasionally consider JLPs fiberglass springs to also reduce weight.

Leeann, FYI, the shackles JLP sells will not get you 4" of drop... Not on a stock F150, not on a Lightning, nor a Harley(yes, lots of us did before & afters to compare). Drop PITA Josh a line, he had some good before and after pics and measurements when he did his..

Best(*free*) bang would be removing the second to last leaf.. Now your trucks leaf may have one extra compared to us '03 Harleys, or it may be exactly the same.. Im trying to remember that one guy on here that did his.

Easy enough, if you are a tad bit lower afterwards then the front, you could always drop down a position hole on your shackles.

Just my .03 cents

If you decide to go this route, I can get you a set.

Thanks guys!! I've always wanted the Hotchkis TVS kit, but it's not within my budget and probably never will be.... so I just want something cheap and easy.

I was gonna say who's Josh??.. lol. At the CJMF show this past summer, his truck looked like it was hauling 2 tons of ***** in the back. I liked the height, but the back was definately lower than the front.

Hangers? Bad advice. If you want to air chisel factory rivets all day long, only to end up with the same height as Hotchkis replacement leafs, or removing a leaf with shackles... YES hangers are a "cheap" way to go, rather then spending the money on replacements, but in the end you''ll have spent just as much on labor, and end up with a crap ride.

Leeann, do a couple searches over on NHTOC.com, and see if you find something. There was a discussion not too long ago about hangers, leafs, removing leafs, shackles, etc etc..

i guess when my truck was lowered i just got lucky because my buddy and i did the front coil springs, rear hangers, bumpstops ,socal shock extenders and shims for the pinion angle in about 5 hours. i agree the hangers can be a pain but we got them off fairly quick. we found the hardest part was the shock extenders because we let the shock out and had to compress them by hand to line up the bolts on the extenders. leeann i told you id get it done for you stop being cheap and order the parts

I don't know what to get or even where to get it. Maybe you should be nice and order it for me next time you're here... I'll return the favor in any way.
