Fog Light Bulbs?

Ok, put in silverstars for the head lights now but I need new fog bulbs that match. In a search I found that the sylvania fog light bulbs were cracking lenses. Has anyone tried another light that is "white" with success or has anyone came up with a way around cracking the lenses? It was discussed to possibly drill the lens to let the heat out....did that work for anybody? PLease help, need to know what to do to about my "yellow" fog lights. Thanks.

I just put Silverstars on the headlights and the fog lights yesterday. Are you saying that the Silverstars made the lens crack? I've had only two lens crack even with 100w bulbs in over 5 years I've had the truck. However, the truck is never driven in the rain.

Well, when I did the search on fog lights there were numerous threads and comments about lenses cracking after installing silverstar fogs. There was a discussion on possibly drilling the lens to allow for heat expansion to possibly correct this situation but no one ever posted any results from it or if anyone even had any success in drilling the lens w/o breaking it themselves. Thats about all the info I can offer you, maybe someone will chime in with some help. Hopefully you won't have any problems.....as soon as I know for sure that i wont have any problems I am putting them in mine but I dont want tp spend $40 on lights that are just going to crack my lenses.

I have Silverstar's in my 02's fog lamps and they get pretty hot. My fogs have the deflectors in the center and they are turning brown but no lens cracking yet. If my lenses crack, I am going to upgrade to the 03 fog light design.

I would suggest NOT using the fog lights in the rain. As hot as they get, that's asking for a cracked lens. I have read where people use the fogs all the time and have no problems but they were not designed for use with these bulbs.

Guess I'll have to keep a close eye on them. And like I said I don't drive the L when it's raining. Thanks.

With the 2000 L fogs, drilling the holes did not seem to work for me, even with regular bulbs. I went through about 4 or 5 sets of fogs before changing over to aftermarket.
