Getting some Head??

So i have been told by many that the L's stock block is internally strong enough (rods n pistons). I am looking into gettin some heads put on this freezin *** cold chicago winter, i am curious if i cud get some info on what is ur best option in begining the building of my motor starting wit heads. And then preceeding with other things.....help me out! i like different opinions n stories.

its all in the tune for the block. With a correctly done tune, u can pull up to 450 hp from the stock block. Anything close to that or over that on the stock block and ur gonna start having some problems. I have no personal experiece of this, but if u plan on building up ur motor and adding a lot of power, it be best to build up the lower end as well. Sorry i have no info on the head.

If you are going to the trouble of heads you might as well do the rods too. The rods are the weak link. No point in trashing good heads with a broken rod.

The bottom end is good for 500. All in the tune chase away the det. Get above that and the rods can and will give up without det. As far as heads go you can alot of additional power out of cams and springs. That way you wont be out of money from buying heads if it blows. JMO

nice

Well, I had a nice little thread started about built motors and what guys were doing with them, but some moron who couldn't keep his yap closed just got it locked down! Nice going !!!

Wow, Spanky, that's a great comparrison pick of the rods. Every time I look at a stock rod, I can just picture it shattering in 1000 pieces.

Also don't forget the stock rod are "forged powder", not truely a forged rod as most are familar with.
