Just received my Borla CAT back and Airaid filter from Truck Performance, Laguna Hills, CA. They have a great price on both items, with the Borla going for $540 list, they sold it at $409 delivered. The hardest part of installation is getting the originals off at the cat. I just braced my feet, grabbed hold with both arms behind the muffler and Pullllllled and Rocccccccked till it came off. The one piece Borla was installed with the stock rubber mounts (No welding) in 10 minutes. They have a one muffler design with their lazy S design. Both holes go through the much smaller stainless steel muffler, and yes, you can see through it, though it's not too much louder until you step on it. At full throttle, it really has a deep bark.
The Airaid $220 (delivered) was a bit harder as the box needed to have one radius ground down for the hood to close properly. The box is necessary for wet driving conditions and I'm sure it helps to keep air as cool as the stock box - with lots more of it of course.
I'm very pleased with the felt performance increase. Next step will be JBA headers and a PSP chip.
My red Snuglid really sets up the looks of the truck. As soon as I figure out how to get a picture into this page, I'll post it. Build #503. Just switched to Mobil 1 5/30 at 8,000.
No piston noise except for the first few minutes after a cold start. No other problems, at all.
